Just finished reading Stephen King's Carrie. Final thoughts go as follows

I love her. Oh my god. I resonate deeply with her as a fat (ex)girl who was bullied terribly and often fantasised about terrible revenge plots

I love the formatting with including book/news snippets as foreshadowing. Even when I knew what was going to happen, they created a great effect of tension and I can only imagine how well they'd work for a spoiler-free reader

I think Carrie is a system. Obviously it's a terribly 2020s interpretation of her as a character but it both makes sense for her to be one and she shows various symptoms. For a book that shows almost every character's raw thoughts Carrie is the only one to be shown actually communicating with said thoughts

I'm going to watch the movie tonight/tomorrow, and most likely rage terribly at the egregious inaccuracies. They made her skinny oh my god

If I was better at drawing I would definitely be redrawing some of my favourite scenes

For Stephen 'Breast Shaming' King it's a shockingly good depiction of a teenage girl's pain
