We're giving away another two models! The following are the terms and conditions of the giveaway as required by Tumblr (please read everything):

The Models

This giveaway is for two models. The first is this exact model:

This model is a knock-off/dupe (NOT a real Breyer) of Breyer's Donkey mold

No idea on actual maker, there were a lot of fakes made throughout the years, but it's hollow plastic, and not the same kind Breyer uses

The model is in pretty good condition, though it has some discoloration along the legs and seam lines, probably from the glue, and it has some paint scuffs

This model is worth about 20 USD or less (based on my ebay searches and it being a copy).

The second model being given away is this exact model:

This is a Mystery Model! The maker is unknown, and it is probably a mass-produced generic toy

It is hollow plastic/vinyl, says "made in China" on the belly, and someone has written "35" in sharpie near the stamp

It also has paint scuffs, but is in decent condition otherwise

This model is worth roughly $5 USD or less

The Giveaway Terms

ANYONE with a tumblr account is eligible for this giveaway (two exceptions, listed below). You do NOT have to be following talkingaboutmodelhorses or any of my other blogs. You do NOT have to like or reblog this post, though I would appreciate reblogs to get the word out.

You MUST be 18 or older to enter

You MUST be in the US to enter (sorry about this one, but international shipping is unfortunately too much for me)

Entry will be through asks or private messages. Simply let me know that you'd like to be in the giveaway, and you're in.

Anonymous entries will not be accepted

All entries will be assigned a number based on when they entered (first person is number 1, second is number 2, so on)

Entrants' names/usernames will not be published, regardless of method of entry (ie, asks), and I will not be keeping the list after the giveaway

Entries will be accepted from 6/28 to midnight on 7/5 (EST)

Today's horse is the mystery horse I mentioned last week! This is Ertl's Treasured Horses Mustang, from either 1997 or 1998. When first researching this line, I found references to this model and a picture of him on the back of the series 2 box, but no actual pictures of him out of box except this one website. I couldn't really find any other sources on him. Without any luck finding the model, or any that had sold previously, I became half convinced that it had never actually released. The line was cancelled at series 2, after all. Then suddenly, two of them showed up on ebay at the same time, and I got this guy (with two other models) for just four bucks.

Of course, after having finally found one, a new search result popped up for one that sold back in September (no idea how I missed it- maybe it sold quick) which included the book he originally came with, The Stallion of Box Canyon. I have no idea why this never came up in my earlier searches, but there you go.

Here are my horse (and mostly horse) shelves! The LEDs have died so I need to figure out another way to display them when I move, since you can't really see the ones at the back. There are some CollectA, Mojö, Bullyland and other brands mixed in as well, but like 90% are schleich. I also have one (1) Breyer stablemate!

Fat Horse No. 3

It’s the year of the horse and I’ve always been a horse girl at heart, so I’m finally taking advantage of the excuse to fill the world with fat little horses! These felted friends are about the size (and shape!) of an apple, and if you happen to have any apples to share I’m sure they’d help you out!
