Oswald returning manfred's feelings is great and all but. Have you thought of the fact that he might feel like manfred just doesent realise that he likes oswald for him as a pilot and public figure like everyone else and not as a person. That he wants to BE him not be WITH him. How about that

And honestly I think Manfred doesn’t realize the way that he’s treating Oswald UNTIL he’s long dead and younger pilots start to idolize HIM. Only then does he see the way he was looking at Oswald and starts to understand what he must have felt. 😭✋✋✋

AND HERE I WAS THINKING THAT I WAS OVERTHINKING—

I’m so glad someone else feels the same arhrhhrbrhrhrhrhhrhrhr….

Yeah definitely… Manfred’s feelings toward Oswald—in my opinion of course, is a mix between love, admiration, and the need to be someone like him. Cause a younger Manfred strived to be great, and Oswald was the image of success and greatness back then. So of course he wanted to be LIKE his mentor.

Certainly Manfred loved him, but I think it resembled more of the love for an idol and less of the love for an equal human being (because as I said before, I doubt that Manfred understood Oswald in the short span of a year).
