‘You rise with the moon, I rise with the sun’

bucky and natasha work together a little too well, punches and kicks a little too in sync, moving like a well-oiled machine.

then, there are inside jokes, bucky laughing so real and so loud it makes steve’s heart ache when natasha recalls some story about grenades and fake captain americas.

natasha calls bucky soldat, says it like a nickname and not a title, and all bucky does is smile and start calling her natalia.

it’s the little things. and there are a lot of them, hints and glances, and steve can only stare as he slowly realizes that, somehow, natasha might just know his best friend better than he does.

he asks her, one night, asks how she knows him, and natasha just gives him an amused smile.

Steve:

I’m going to find Natasha, just like I always have. Never even realized how lost I was without her. But I always was. Just some lost soldier who forgot he ever had a home. Until she gave me one.

Not even a single person:

Bucky: did u SEE her fully murder that dude w her thighs????

Sam: yeah she’s amaz–

Bucky: MY HEAD IS BETWEEN HER THIGHS ALL THE TIME AND SHE COULD STRAIGHT UP MURDER ME
