the first rule of detective fiction is that the detective in question should ALWAYS just be the nosiest person alive and never be a cop

#this is why I LOVE the first millennium book and the others less #girl with the dragon tattoo is a detective story that includes ZERO COPS and it’s GREAT!#it gives you two legit investigator types (an investigative journalist and a hacker/PI) with NO police involved it's so satisfying #the subsequent books bring in police and try to show a nuanced view of cop detectives BUT imho it's not nearly as satisfying to read #like narratively i get why larsson HAD TO introduce cop characters into the later books (current/emerging violent crimes happening etc)#but the cop-centered subplots are my least favorite parts of the series #like i appreciate and (mostly) align with the commentary that it's making about cops but it's just not ENTERTAINING #myr tag #oc mo tag #oc quasar tag

camera-counting game is freaky bc i often take the same routes for my regular appointments and keep noticing new ones lol

spotted 93 cameras on a 20 minute ride!

this game truly is a good way to pass the time when out in public (observation game u can play anywhere!) AND ALSO it has been really terrible for my mental health :)

anyway i did spot 130 cameras on that same 20 minute ride on tuesday, with total of 230 for the whole trip, for which i left my house for 90 mins
