“I don’t know. A lot.”

“You made it look so easy. Like they didn’t used to be a person.”

“She pulled the infected off me. Even killed them with the hatchet. But somewhere in the struggle- she got bitten on the hand.”

“It just, it sucks, y’know. That you had to leave like that.”

“It’s alright. I did it to keep my siblings safe. And I’d do it a hundred times over.”

“For the record, I’m very glad you’re okay.”

“Thanks. I’m glad I’m okay too. At least it means I got to meet you.”

Tia’s pinkie finger brushed against hers, then slowly wrapped around it, linking them together.

“I was just some girl born in Lancashire, lucky to be talented, lucky to be plucked off the streets of my hometown, lucky to be taken under the silver wing of Divina, lucky to have landed some of the biggest roles on the West End.”

“What was the first show that Veronica Green was in?”

“I like how you say Veronica Green. Like her and Ronnie are two different people.”

Tia had a crush on Veronica Green. Now, she fears she’s falling in love with Ronnie Grey.

“I watched you thinking it was for nothing. Thinking I was just interested in how someone can possibly do it in such a textbook way, straight from professional training. How everyone knows that you have earned all of your opportunities. But then I was watching because I couldn’t look away.”
