I’m actually taking a time off tumblr but The Unit results changed everything
I can’t say I’m 100% happy that Chan got in the final group. Since Jun was eliminated he had looked lonelier, more distant than his usual beagle image, and imagining him having to be all alone with Unit-B just breaks my heart. It’s selfish, but I know they would’ve wanted Chan to make it if possible, so more ppl can know about our beloved group, A.C.E.
On the other hand, can I just say that I’m really, truly proud of our maknae? Not just for making it but for everything that he has done and been through till now? The Unit gave him very little to no screentime, and I believe they even forgot that he was a main vocalist since all his cuts were dancing and choreographing cuts. Still, he managed to captivate the audience with what little that he had and made it to the debut line just in time for the final, beating Timotheo, Donghyun, Jeup, Rockhyun, Seyong… all the people who have been in the top9 before and were The Unit’s obvious golden children. Do you realize how big that is? He soared to the highest place possible, fought against all odds and finally got what he deserved, as the only member who got in without KBS’s help. Tbh I’d be lying if I were to say I didn’t cry when he was announced as the last person to join the top9. None of us expected it, I’m sure. Not even Chan did. It was a plot twist for everyone.
Unfortunately, this plot twist is upsetting to many. The loyal fanbase of those people who didn’t make it are currently angered and I’ve seen some threatening to boycott Chan. They were saying how Unit-B now has no main vocals or how Chan doesn’t deserve it as much as ppl who have been in the top9 before. I know. It saddens me too. But I say we wait. We wait till all these people can see what our maknae can do and that he deserves every bit of that win. The Unit may not remember, but we Choices remember, that every time our maknae introduces himself, he will say “I’m A.C.E’s main vocal and cutie maknae, CHAN!!”. We remember how good he is in singing, dancing, and basically everything he does. We remember how lovable he is and how he’s liked by everyone. We remember how much he loves A.C.E to the point of explicitly pulling out his dog tag on stage, when the camera was all on him and shouted to the mic “I LOVE YOU A.C.E!! I LOVE YOU JUN HYUNG!!!”. We remember how he loves us, his Choices, and that he’s indirectly telling us to wait, that it’ll not be long before he’ll come back to us, safe and sound, once again as A.C.E’s main vocal and cutie maknae, CHAN.
So KANG YUCHAN, congratulations, take care, good luck, we love you, and we’ll be waiting for you, just as you want us to.
