For me, I see them as an opportunity to enjoy an exercise in mindfulness, a focusing of all the senses in one simple setting. 

As the rain drips off of tinted tree leaves, unchanging pines stand tall against the white skies. Below, wet pavement is speckled with fallen foliage while foxes and squirrels scurry in the surrounding brush. 

Mornings like these, I must admit, I wait for all year round. First, feeling the fresh, cool air – and then hearing it, as it brushes through the windchimes. In the distance, a family of sparrows sing their last few songs in the tangled branches before they depart southward.
