“I have a very good memory,” she said, giggling at her own inside joke. “I’m Kallista.” Grinning as he sat down next to him, she took the bottle back again and took a drink. “Doing things for the first time is always the best, don’t you think.” She couldn’t help but giggle, warmth rising to her cheeks from both the alcohol and the flirty tone of her words.

“Lucky you.” He commented, a half-smile lingering on his lips as he turned to her. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Kallista. Quite a lovely name.” He added shortly after. His head turned back to look back towards the lake. “It’s always the most memorable.” He agreed, looking at her again. Somehow, he thought the view was prettier if he looked at the girl.

“Mhmm, maybe we should ask Juliet about that one. Or Kallista, I saw you with her at the party,” Vivian arched an eyebrow at him, a knowing smirk curving at her lips. “Of course I did, I’m offended I didn’t hear it through you.” The girl huffed, before rolling her eyes. “Of course I do. Come on, talk to me. That’s what siblings are for, right Besides, I need a distraction, so spill.”

“Or maybe we don’t ask any of my... hookups.” He sighed, not sure he wanted to discuss that with her anymore. “We’re close, Viv, but do we really share everything together?” He asked, an eyebrow slightly raised. “Well, if you’re asking for it... I slept with her, and she told me she liked me right after. And now she’s avoiding me.”

“Well then,” Juliet arched her eyebrows at him, “Next time you find yourself pulled towards me, maybe I’ll just leave you hanging,” She mused, poking her tongue out at him. “Oh really? Well whoever told you that definitely wasn’t wrong,” She teased back, grinning up at him. “Well,” Juliet bit down on her lower lip, standing up on her toes, “I think we’d both prefer it if I showed you,” She murmured as she leaned forwards, before capturing his lips with her own.

Julian raised his eyebrows, feigning to be offended. “You could never do that.” He stated with a playful grin. “Now, you all should stop that before my ego becomes too big to be controlled.” His eyes trailed down to her lips as she spoke, leaning forward slightly as she moved in to kiss him. His hand reached up to meet her cheek, and he slightly pulled away for a moment. “Maybe you’d like to show me somewhere else?”

“One day, maybe. It’s just… not an easy thing to talk about. It’s long, complicated and far too messy. I don’t exactly want to drag anyone else into it,” She admitted, chewing on her lower lip. 

“Yeah, well I don’t think most people expect someone to just blurt out they have a crush on them after sleeping with them,” She muttered, rubbing at her temples. “I shouldn’t have avoided you though, that was shitty of me. I’m just… not exactly good with this.” Juliet admitted, wringing her hands together. As he paused, Juliet closed her eyes, bracing herself for rejection. Past words spoken to her ran through her mind; no one will ever actually want you, you’re not worthy enough. However, as he spoke, her eyes snapped open. “Wait, you still want to hang out with me?” Her brows furrowed together as she looked at him, having not expected that reaction. “I- yeah. I’d like that.”

“Like I said, doesn’t have to be now. I won’t force you to talk about it, do it when you’re ready. Or... don’t even do it at all, it’s all your decision.” He said with a slow nod, giving her a small smile.

“Do we ever expect people to tell us about their crush? I surely don’t, no matter the situation.” He said, trying to relieve a little bit of tension. “Yeah, that was kind of shitty of you.” He teased with a grin. “But it’s fine, you really shouldn’t worry about it. At least you had the guts to say it in the first place.” He commented, a small smile appearing at her reaction. “Of course, I do. You’re fun, I like hanging out with you.” He said with a nod. “Let’s just... not make this awkward.”

“You were?” A genuine smile curved at her lips slightly, the girl tucking the necklace back into her top before she turned to face him fully. “You know it’s my birthday?” Her brows furrowed together. She’d not exactly tried to hide it, but she wasn’t exactly screaming it from the clocktower either. “You’re taking me out of here?” The very idea made her smile grow and she hopped to her feet, walking closer to him. “Have I ever told you that you’re my favourite person?” She teased, beaming up at him. Julian was definitely a welcoming distraction from her thoughts, and while originally she had wanted to ignore most people, she knew Julian would be able to cheer her up. “Where are you taking me, exactly?” She mused, wiggling her brows at him.

Julian let out a small laugh as she spoke, not having expected her to be this excited to get out of here. But then he realized most people were probably eager to get out of here, so he really shouldn’t be that surprised. “So many questions, so little time.” He joked, even though he knew they’d have the whole day to talk. “But yes, I do know I’m your favorite person. I guess you’re not terrible either.” He teased. “Well, if I tell you, it won’t be a surprise. But you might want to bring your camera. And a change of clothes. We might not be back until tomorrow.” He said before holding out his hand. “So... are you in?”

“Oh a curse, is it?” Juliet feigned offence, before a laugh escaped her lips. “Well I’ll remember that the next time you find me,” She teased him.  At his words, a soft sigh escaped her lips. “Yeah, I guess.” A laugh escaped her lips again at his next words, and her lips curved upwards. “Well, you do have a very pretty face, it certainly helps lift my mood.” The girl teased, before reaching out to wrap her arms around his neck. “That, and you know several other things that lift my mood.” 

“It has to be. It’s the only explanation.” He joked. “Ah, but it’s still a curse. A curse so strong it’s pulling me towards it.” An eyebrow moved up as she spoke next, a playful look appearing on his face. “Yeah, I’ve heard that before. Heard I could get almost anything I wanted with that pretty face.” He teased, his hands slowly finding their way around her waist. “Really? Care to tell me more about that?”

Juliet stiffened as the other sat, before relaxing slightly. It was Julian, he’d never hurt her. At least, not intentionally. She could feel his eyes on her, and a small sigh escaped her lips as she reluctantly turned her gaze to meet his. 

“No one does, I had an argument with someone. It’s a long story,” She murmured, wrapping her arms around herself. At his words, she swallowed, shrugging her shoulders slightly. “I- Yes. I didn’t mean to tell you, I got caught up in the moment. I didn’t want to scare you off, or whatever. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I’m kind of a mess and I don’t really deal with… feelings very well,” She admitted with a weak laugh that fell flat. “I’m sorry I didn’t give you time to react, I was just too freaked I’d actually said it out loud. It made it far too real. I think I’d been denying it for a while, but as soon as those words left my lips..” She trailed off, turning her gaze away. “I’m sorry.” She whispered.

He could tell she was uncomfortable around the subject, but nothing he could do would probably help it. If anything, it might just make it worse for her, so he stayed where he was sitting. “We don’t have to talk about it. But if you ever need to talk, I’ll be there.”

Julian took a quick glance around before speaking again. He didn’t think other Hufflepuffs would rat him out, but if an actual prefect was to walk in, he’d probably end up in a little bit of trouble. Thankfully, everything seemed incredibly quiet still. “You didn’t scare me off, I was just not expecting it.” He said, giving her a small smile. He knew it probably wasn’t easy for her to talk about, he was just hoping she was alright talking about it now. “Don’t apologize for that. People freak out all the time, you didn’t do anything wrong. But you said it, and I’m not going to turn my back on you for that.” He started, taking a short pause. “I don’t know if I feel the same way, but if you’re okay with it, I still want to hang out with you. See what happens.”

“I’m still older, and it’s not my fault you’re a giant,” Vivian huffed playfully. At his next words, a small smirk slipped on her lips and Vivian quirked a brow at him. “Would that certain someone be Juliet Quinn, by any chance? Spill, what’s going on with you two?”

“Don’t girls like tall guys anyway? I don’t see the problem in being a giant.” He joked, before letting out a small, dry chuckle. “I’m guessing you heard that through Dorcas.” He stated. “I’m not sure, actually. And I don’t think you want to hear all the details, either.”

It was the morning of her birthday, and Juliet found herself hidden in one of the alcoves of the corridors. Most people were at breakfast, but the girl wasn’t entirely hungry. She wasn’t particularly in the mood for celebrating either, her fingers fiddling with the locket around her neck as she stared blankly out at the courtyard. It was the first birthday without her mother, and she was desperately trying not to think about it. She’d received presents from her uncles, and Juliet had almost been tempted to skip school to go and visit them – if they both weren’t busy with their lives. 

She’d been so consumed by her own thoughts she barely registered the footsteps next to her, it wasn’t until the other spoke that she jolted, head snapping to look at the other and oh, her cheeks flushed at the sight of Julian. “Hey, what are you doing here?” She murmured, forcing a smile to her lips.

When he woke up, Julian was, quite frankly, a little nervous. He had big plans, and he was just hoping it’d be good enough for her. His first stop when he woke up was the Great Hall, but she wasn’t there. He then headed for the Hufflepuff common rooms, asking one of the housemates to check if she was in her dorm, but they said she wasn’t. And those... were about the only two places he knew where to search for her. So he spent a bit of time wandering through the halls until he finally found her.

A smile spread on Julian’s lips as he approached her. “I was looking for you, actually.” He said, leaning against the wall once he got close enough to her. “It’s your birthday, I’m taking you out of those walls. At least for a day.”

Once she’d taken the bottle, she poured some into her cup before handing it back to him. “I’d happily accept either,” Kallista said with a giggle. Taking a sip from her cup, she sat down facing the lake and looked up at him. “Julian, right? Come on, join me! The party’s fun, but there’s something about watching the stars above the lake that always pulls me in.”

As she handed the bottle back, he took a quick sip from it. An eyebrow raised at her words, although he didn’t comment; it didn’t feel like something he should talk more about, really. “Yeah, that’s me. Sorry, I don’t think I actually know your name.” He said with a small smile before taking a seat next to her. “I don’t think I’ve ever done this before, but there’s a first to everything, right?”

“You should know by now you can never avoid me for too long,” She teased, her grin curving into a smirk. As he asked how she’d been, her expression faltered slightly before she plastered it back on. “I’ve been coping with things,” She shrugged, “But…. I’m much better now I’ve found you,” She murmured, stepping closer to him as she bat her eyelashes.

“You’re certainly right. You somehow always manage to find me everywhere. It’s like a curse or something.” He joked, chuckling softly. “That seems like what we’ve all been doing, really.” He said with a small nod. He hadn’t been as devastated as some people had been after the attack, but he’d still needed some time to cope with it as well. “Is that so? Didn’t realize I was so important for your well-being.”

“You don’t want me to answer that.” She warned, though the spark in her eyes flickered with mischief as she looked at him, betraying the serious tone her voice held.

Julian feigned an offended look when she spoke. “Yet you still keep me around.” He joked. “You need help with anything? I’m a little bored right now.”

A chuckle left her lips at the others eagerness. “Time to get wasted then.” she grinned, walking with the other. “I have to warn you the only ideas I get when I drink, is to drink more.”

He let a small, playful frown appear on his face as she spoke. “And is drinking more supposed to be a problem with me?” He asked, raising an eyebrow. “Because I certainly don’t see the issue with that, it’s a great idea.”

“There’s a reason I’m the Ravenclaw in the family, baby bro,” She teased, gesturing for him to take a seat next to her. “Well I’m done now, so I have more than enough time for you. What’s new with you, anyway? Anything I should know about?”

“Hey! Don’t call me that, you’re barely older than me. And I’m much taller.” He replied as he sat down, a small smile on his lips. “Nothing important. Just being avoided by someone, nothing for you to worry about.”

“Ah see but that’s the issue, I’ve already tried all the illegal maneuvers. It’s same old boring stuff, nothing new that could surprise me.”

“Alright, then. Maybe it’s time you try to break some rules with someone else. You’ve certainly never done anything illegal with me, I could surprise you.”
