Current favs ♥️
Hi TT, I am back with my monthly request, please watch katelaal and sons. The show gets better and better with its situational comedy. The girls are killing it. Their little bro is adorable and the male lead, surprisingly not a mcp. His mom is the coolest mother in law on TV and the girl keeps wishing(aloud) that she was her daughter instead of would be daughter in law.
I keeeeep meaning to but Life and my monkey brain keep getting in the damn way. 😣😣😣 Let’s hope the stars align and I’ll be in the emotional space/headspace/time+energy commitment mood for it soon, lol. 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽
100% agree with anon. everybody should watch Kaatelal & Sons. apart from everything that anon has mentioned, the show has such a nice, refreshing DESI take on feminism (unlike bombay begums all the web series which just re-appropriate privileged/white feminist tropes onto desi women).
in the universe of Kaatelal & Sons, misogyny isn’t a monster Garima and Susheela have to fight by being emotionally strong and brave. here, misogyny=stupidity, and our badass heroines go against it by being SMART. what a concept! on ITV!
the romances are secondary, the references are unexpected (Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, hindi masala heroes for Susheela etc.), the comedy is ACTUALLY funny, and we get to see women be intimidating in a way tellywood (or desi society) never lets them be, without being villainized for it.
i could go on and on, but tl;dr: watch Kaatelal & Sons. it’s great.
Kaatelal is undoubtedly one of the best shows made on ITV. The way it address subtle as well prominent misogyny is mind blowing.
I think I am over that phase where I can root for a love story in itv. Whether it's Kaatelal or saakk or any other show I have kinda stated to realize how hollow the idea of love is the way it is portrayed in ITV. In most instances it feels like the couple is falling in love only because they are the leads. I will continue watching my favorite shows for the characters that I connect with.
My favorite snaps of Jiya

ITV producers to ITV stans : Ek romantic scene phek k marenge story, development sab bhool jaoge 😌
Over the years people have assumed that Indian TV revolves around women but I think women have had practically no individuality. Their work had primarily been to solve the megnanmous problems persisting in the Male Lead's house. The last show I think which was based on a female lead's journey was Naamkarann and probably Krishna Chali London to some extent.
@tellywoodtrash would like to know your thoughts about it

Guide to Every Indian Drama Ever
1. A humble heroine with big dreams
.. and a filthy rich hero with an attitude problem
2. Heroine has a strange disorder where she keeps falling on the hero
3. Magically transport to a forest, where the couple plays a game of Survivor
4. Right when it heats up, introduce the “vamp” (aka hero’s superslutty girlfriend)
5. Couple has huge misunderstandings, which could be resolved with a 5 minute convo
6. In a strange turn of events, hero force-marries heroine
7. There must be an absurdly long drawn-out wait until the consummation
9. Throw in an an evil mom/grandma/ex/random twat to separate them
9. When the couple finally gets down to bizness … bam! heroine becomes pregnant the very next day
10. Actor becomes popular and gets the hell outta the show
11. Director tries to pass off a random guy as the hero
12. Show dies a slow, but swift death
Damn loved this
#Shauryaauranokhikikahani Karanvir and Debattma have a really good chemistry the show has been subtle and layered so far.
