Rally for Refugees Feb 1 2017 Regan National Airport Hundreds of people gathered at Regan National Airport on February 1 2017 to protest against the ban against refugees and immigrants. It was a peaceful gathering filled with singing and chanting and even a little bit of story telling. Current conditions in the U.S. may not be stable, but I will say this has definitely unified people together. All rallying in support for each other.

A few months ago, a co-worker, a friend really, had this brilliant idea to turn the top of one of our storage containers into a garden. After a few weeks of planning and organizing, she gathered a few of us this morning, Sunday December 4th 2016, to start building. This was the official kick off turning a plan, a dream, into reality. People brought tools, food, excitement, eagerness to get their hands dirty. I brought my camera and some tunes--helped hands-on here and there. It’s definitely a big undertaking, but we have a good strong team. Everyone’s excited and fully supportive of the project. I can’t wait to see the final product. This is going to be so awesome!

This was probably the toughest hike I’ve had to do yet. There were definitely lots of rocks/tough terrain--pretty much the whole way, actually; there were steep climbs and some rock scrambles. The most fun hike I’ve done yet. Four miles in, four miles out. The view’s definitely worth the trek. 

This place was magical. One unforgettable day.

Super Moon November 13 2016 The closest and brightest Super Moon since January 26 1948. At close approach, the moon will be 221,524 miles away from Earth (usual average distance is 238,900). Next time we'll see another such Super Moon will be on November 24 2034.

Out for a morning run and I was greeted by this scenery. Motivation to get up early I'd say.

The morning commute.

Went to go explore this trail I've always passed but never really checked out. Potomac Heritage Trail near Georgetown. Wasn't much to see on that section. Gotta check it out further up river. Still got some nice pix though.

Update: unfortunately I dropped my FT-2. It still works as far as ability to record images (aka shutter's fine). However, the mirror broke so viewfinder is pretty much useless. There's a little piece of mirror left that still sorta helps with framing and you can guess focusing with it too. Def not suitable for walking around with, but perfectly fine for long exposure photography. So that's what it's job is now. A dedicated long exposure camera. I bought a replacement body so I have 2 FT-2s now. Bought that cable release as well. I can't wait to actually do some bulb shots. I do need a light meter now to get shutter speeds, but there's an app for that.
