idk how many people i’ve known growing up in texas whose parents speak fluent spanish but they don’t speak a lick solely because their parents were afraid or told not to teach their children. it’s unspeakably common and doesn’t in any way shape or form diminish someone’s claim to or pride in their heritage. 

I think it’s difficult to tell. I think there probably is some envy/jealousy in some way since at this stage it’s apparent niall craves the validation from commercial success and that seems to be the the main priority for him, and with how liam and louis have not done well longevity wise in comparison to how harry is doing within a relatively close proximity to him releasing his music & doing so well. the JBB interaction with liam and his tweets after harry did so well with fine line while funny, did just seem kinda sad to me.

I can’t imagine what it must feel like to go from being in the biggest band on the planet and have almost guaranteed success any time you released something (although I think by the ending stages of 1d it was also clear that the gravy train was slowing down and if they had released a 6th album I don’t think it would’ve done as well as anticipated) to being a solo artist and suddenly being in control of your career and people being there for only you. I think that’s why harry going on tour was so massive for him because it made him realise just how many people were there for him only, and while we might say a lot of the people were only there for him in 1d, it would be a pretty arrogant thing for him to assume that himself imho.
