These are some drabbles of some character’s expressions. Still trying to work out the style of my work- in- progress animation!

ART 487 Story Splines 

1.)

Once upon a time: A girl named MeiMei decided to go on an adventure with her little sister Chuner in the woods

And everyday: They make new discoveries

Until one day: They stayed later than they are supposed to and meet a ‘kind’ wolf

And because of that: They get kidnapped

And because of that: They have to find a way to escape

And because of that (continue as needed): They beat up the wolf

Until finally: They escape home

And since that day: They never stay out too late

And the moral of the story is: Protect one another no matter what

2.)

Once upon a time: An old man sees a berry tree as he drives his bus.

And everyday: The old man sees that no one is harvesting these berry 

Until one day: On his day off, he takes his family to the berry tree 

And because of that: They have enough berries to last them all year

And because of that: They peak the interest of passersby. 

And because of that (continue as needed): They educate the passersby

Until finally: Everybody was picking the berries

And since that day: The berry tree was bare

And the moral of the story is: Don't be afraid to express your knowledge to other people

3.)

Once upon a time: A lonely berry tree grew all by itself in the woods 

And everyday: It would be alone with no one to talk to

Until one day: A lost girl stumbles into the woods, hungry and afraid

And because of that: The berry tree meets a new friend

And because of that: The berry tree feeds and protects the little girl

Until finally: A search team finds her

And since that day: The tree had a friend that came to visit

And the moral of the story is: Lend a helping hand

4.)

Once upon a time: A blue bird sits on a branch, on a tree, in a park in New York. 

And everyday: It would wait for an old lady named Bonnie, to feed the park birds 

Until one day: Bonnie sits on the park bench with another old lady named Danna

And because of that: The blue bird gets jealous

And because of that: The blue bird finds every way to chase Danna away 

Until finally: The blue bird realizes how happy Bonnie is with Danna

And since that day: The blue bird stops bothering Danna

In my upcoming short animation I hope to achieve content pertaining to the importance of family, tradition, and culture. Similar to Pixar’s short, Bao!

Reference #2 is Sony Picture’s short Hair Love. In this short, Hair Love expresses themes such as dedication, perseverance, as well as the importance of family. I hope to achieve a similar style in my animation as I will be working in 2D.

Reference #3 is Imagine Dragons Animated video Birds! In this animated short, the importance of family is also emphasized as well as heavy themes like loss and bullying.  It is another style of animation that I also consider using!
