Spearmint (in case you’re wondering how they got to where they did).
Awkward ad placement…
And The Guardian wins ‘typo of the year’ award (it’s supposed to start with ‘R’).
Thanks to Kurt Sanders for the spot.
Positioning!

"what did this man do, officer?"
"he just… he just did everything”
Am I the only one who wants to read the rest of the article?
Once upon a time, there were two girls in a coffee shop...

Is this the future of citizen journalism? ;)
Awesome sub-heading.
Nothing like hiding obscenity in a headline. Today's Daily Telegraph (Sydney).
Not that there's anything wrong with that of course....
But she doesn't look like an Oliver to me.

Poor reporting from the media yet again. Sexist? Yes.
Unfortunate placement...
Solar eclipse in Australia this morning!
(uncredited photo - if anyone knows contact me)
Okay, there WAS a solar eclipse in Australia this morning HOWEVER it turns out that this pic is actually from texas. In May.
The ever-vigilant Stephen Scott (aka Darth Ambiguous) has discovered: "This shot was taken by Willoughby Owen on May 20, 2012 in Cochran County, Texas. http://www.flickr.com/photos/unripegreenbanana/7239242168/in/faves-johnjoh/ …
I'm often chiding my students to check sources. I trusted the person this came from. I stand corrected and acknowledge my mistake. Here are some genuine pics from this morning's Australian eclipse: Geoff Sims

What a wonderful correction! Thanks to DarthAmbiguous for the spot.
Some interesting claims doing the rounds including the fact that North Korea might NOT have declared war and that a mistranslation (or spin) might be responsible for tension escalation.
One claim is that the North Korean original statement apparently stressed that the country would act “in accordance with wartime laws” if attacked, and that “from that time, North-South relations will enter a state of war.”
Which, given the recent US testing (of dropping dud nuclear bombs) near North Korea, would be a reasonable warning/response. Certainly would make more sense as to how we got here.
Unfortunately I can’t find the original source to confirm the claims but none of the major news services have linked to an original source either or to where they got their translation from. Here’s an interesting read on the subject.
