La Squadra being comforted by their s/o after a nightmare (dreamt that they failed to protect their s/o and they died). How would s/o comfort them and how would they react? thank you :)
La Squadra being comforted by their S/O after a nightmare!
He absolutely never lets you see him shaken by anything. So when he wakes up from the horrible nightmare, he slips quietly out of bed.
When you approach him downstairs, you can see that heâs obviously distressed about something.
The sound of your voice makes him jump, but he tries to play it off.
Of course, you donât believe him and press him for whatâs wrong when he quietly admits that he dreamed you hadâŚdied.
You take his hand and bring it to your chest to let him feel your heartbeat for a moment. And you tell him that youâre okay. Youâre still alive.
It still takes him a moment. He takes in a very shaky breath and suggests you both get back to bed, where you play with his hair until he falls back to sleep.
You wake up and notice his face is twisted and he seems to be mumbling in his sleep. So you try to gentle wake him, and he startles.
It takes him a moment when he wakes up to realize where he is and focus on you. But as soon as he does, he throws his arms around you and hold you tight.
All you can do is just listen to him continue to softly mutter, âYouâre okay.â for a while before he can calm down and actually hear you out.
Heâs a little embarrassed to tell you he had a nightmare, but he tells you everything you need to know.
When he gets to the part about losing you, he starts to choke up again. And you just hold him and let him catch his breath on his own time.
You kiss him gently and tell him that youâre still here. And damn it, heâs stuck with you, because youâre not going anywhere.
He wakes you up and then smiles when he sees you stir. But you can tell that his smile is not...genuine.
You ask him whatâs the matter, but he tries to play everything off as being fine.
âYou were so fast asleep, I thought that you might have been...well, nevermind.â
That makes you pry to ask him whatâs wrong, and after a while he begrudgingly admits that he might have had a dream where you might have died and it might have been his fault.
You tell him that among all those mights, it was just a dream. And that you were still alive, and he was responsible for keeping you safe thus far.
The smile on his face now is genuine. He kisses you gently and suggests you both go back to bed. And you happily oblige.
The sound of him muttering to himself is what stirs you awake from your own sleep. It sounds faintly like heâs...scolding himself?
You roll over and ask him whatâs the matter, and he seems to startle. Then he apologizes for having woken you up.
After assuring him that it really isnât a big deal, you notice that heâs still tense. So you sit up and rub his back for a while as you ask him calmly why heâs awake.
He tells you that he had a dream where you were in danger and he...he wasnât able to protect you. And he should have stood his ground until he couldnât fight anymore-,
You bring him close to you and tell him that itâs okay. When the time came, you knew he would keep you safe no matter what. And youâre safe now.
The two of you lay back down, and you just hold him and talk to him until he falls back asleep again in your arms.
He startles awake with a scream that has both of you sitting bolt upright in the middle of the night.
Youâre able to catch your breath faster, and try to get Pesci to calm down and breathe through his panic and tears.
Once he does manage to catch his breath. He looks at you and starts to tear up all over again.
He throws himself onto you and just holds you tightly. You wrap your arms around him and ask him if he had a nightmare of some kind.
All he can do is nod and sputter out that he wasnât able to protect you. He let you die, and all he could do was sit and watch.
You tell him that itâs all okay. Youâre still here, and youâre still okay. He has nothing he needs to worry about. And you keep assuring him of that until he can peacefully fall asleep again.
You feel the bed next to you shift. You crack open your eyes to see him sitting on the edge of the bed, his head in his hands.
When you ask him whatâs the matter, he turns to you and gives you a strained smile and tells you that you should just go back to sleep.
But youâre not buying that nothing is wrong. You press him until finally he gives in with a very long sigh.
âIt was nothing but a dream. Just...donât worry about it, okay? Go back to sleep. Youâre safe, so everything is fine.â
You agree with him that, yes - you are safe. And that it was just a dream. So he should come back and fall asleep next to you.
He chuckles softly and obliges you, crawling into your arms and just laying there. Being next to you is enough for him right now.
He talks in his sleep, and you wake up to hear him mumbling your name with distress obvious in his voice.
You try to wake him up by quietly saying his name. Then you place your hand on his arm, and suddenly heâs startled awake.
It takes him a few seconds to catch his breath. When he looks at you, he gives you a somewhat shaky smile.
He tries to assure you before you even ask âWhatâs wrong?â that everything is okay. But you obviously donât believe him, given the look on your face.
Then he gives in and tells you that he had a nightmare. Someone was able to figure out his weakness and...they got to you and killed you.
You assure him it was nothing but a dream. Youâre alright, and thereâs no way anybody could beat him. And youâre sure to tell him all about that as he lays back down and falls asleep.
