button badges promotional poster
to put next to the button badges, in order to show their price and to encourage people to buy them.
i started off with this:
i kept the font fun and the colours fun because the purpose of the badges are mainly for fun! but despite this i knew i should have it in the branding style so i changed the colours to:
i then also added the er logo too
i then added the shapes:
then finally i took some photos of a couple of my colleagues, removed the background and then added the price too:

branding development and new flyers
on a meeting about the shapes for the branding it was suggested that we could use the ones from the playstation branding. i pointed out that
the graphic designer at escape reality has been working on developing the branding from my initial ideas and she came up with the start of a brand guidelines:
i was asked from this new brand guidelines to create a flyer to be printed and put in the branches across the UK.
i think the front of the flyer is great but I'm struggling to place the shapes on the back of the flyer
tortuga pirates poster
i was also asked to remake the tortuga pirates poster. below is the original poster for tortuga pirates:
i was asked to make it less scary so i took some notes for my plan of making the poster:
so i went onto photoshop and took these images:
and created this first draft:
the feedback from this was very positive! the only thing i was asked to change was to remove the parrot as it draws the eye too much, which i absolutely agree with!
so for the final poster i removed the parrot and i added a gold effect to the title:
(the above image is slightly blurry as i had to make the file size smaller! i promise the text is not as blurry as it looks above!)
the jungala poster (the finale)
the feedback i got from the first draft was:
love the board game being in the middle of the forest design, this looks great and in a good direction.
I'm uncertain about the Jungala text colour, what if we played about with the outline of the text? One of the things I liked about the current Jungala poster is the text style of the word "Jungala".
The "Play the game" text should be abit bigger.
To help appeal to families and kids, we should have some animals on the picture such as a Snake, Monkey, Rhino and Elephant to represent the play pieces of the game. I liked the art style attached but with a more friendlier tone.
The poster seems quite dark, could we play about with making the greens abit brighter?
so based off this i started off by creating some animals. i started off with using some sketches i'd created for a previous uni project (the Edinburgh zoo project, which i did about animal poo, hence why the sketches have the animals pooing in them) and and remade them in digitally in the style of the rest of the poster
i then added a monkey and an elephant trunk
i wanted the animals to be funny, so i gave the monkey a wee belly!
i also kept the snake from the original draft too
to create the background i used an image of lots of leaves and then used a guassian blur and a vignette so it wasn't too distracting.
i had originally been using procreate to put the poster together but i then put the rest of the poster together on photoshop.
i then gave two different options to my line manager and he decided on the second one:
he then asked for a green glow coming from the Jungala.
button badges
at this point i've created all the badges (if you're looking for the ideas behind them all please refer to the link below)
this week i was tasked with creating a new march item: a button badge for each room which customers can buy. i wanted the badges to feel fun
my final task was to fit them to the specifications to the store we were ordering from:
so therefore i had to edit them to these specifications
then we got the badges printed and they look fantastic!
we've chosen to display them on a plate on the reception desk and so far we've already sold one!
this was one of the most rewarding projects for me as it was great to see something that i'd made in physical form and to have such positive reactions from staff, and customers so far!
week 11 + 12: the jungala poster first draft
this week i planned out my jungala poster. i started out by sketching some plants and the jungala board (the bright colours are just so i ca
(please see above ^ for the first post about the jungala poster)
these weeks i focused solely on the jungala poster.
i started off by sketching a rough outline of what i wanted it to look like:
I began by creating the border:
I wanted it to have a cartoon feel to it so kept everything quite stylised.
I also drew the playing board as this is quite an important part of the room.
i was asked to add some animals in but i wanted them (initially to be hidden)
i chose the typefaces here to help the family friendly feel of the room.
this poster took a long time because it was a lot of illustration, i was initially hesistant about this too as I'm not always confident in my illustration abilities. it was quite a daunting idea to do such a big illustrative project, however i have found my skills are much stronger than i thought, and i also enjoyed doing it!

enamel badge (continued)
this week i also continued work on the enamel badge.
i started off by sketching some new ideas:
then i thought about how they used to put logos on old keys, and as an escape room , a key is very fitting, so i then sketched some ideas with this:
i sent this to my line manager and he responded positively so i put the sketch into illustrator and began playing around with the colours:
it was decided that the key with the red accent was to be used and i was asked to use the font on the logo to add to the badge:
i also then researched about squircles for a while, because i didn't like the way that it semed to go from a curve to a straight line in the initial illustrator badges (which is why the above shape looks different)
we then decided to just use the yellow and not the red, to change the orientation of the logo, and also to make the width of the horizontal line part of the key the same with as the logo at the end of the key, (i also decided i didn't like the squircle) and the final product was:
this has not yet been produced however it is being manufactured now.
meet your games masters board
we also have decied to create a meet your gamesmasters board to put in reception. as the thing that makes escape reality different from it's competitors is the interactions you have with the staff and our customer service, we thought this would be a good way to help the customers get to know us a bit better. they often remember which games aster they had if they ever come back and by the time they have completed all of our games we have gotten to know who they are so this seemed like a nice touch!
i began with researching what the board should look like:
the aim of the board was for it to look handmade and personalised, it also needed to be simple enough that, if we got a good response in the edinburgh branch, then other branches could also use this in theirs too.
a part of what we sell at the end of the game is polaroids so we decided we could use those in the meet your games masters board and then the customers might see this and want a polaroid themselves. so i started off by taking polaroids of a few members of staff:
i then made a google forms for the staff members to respond too so that i could put their responses on the board.
i started off the form with a little introduction that said:
Hi everyone!
One of the things I'm working on is a board that will be in reception or next to the lockers about us. The aim of this is to let the customers know more about us and it'll be a fun little task.
I've put some questions below for you all to answer below, if you could get in your responses as soon as possible that would be incredibly helpful, and if you have any more suggestions on what to include in this please just let me know!
I've so far gotten polaroid's of Konstantin, David, and Brian, but I will need polaroid's of all of you, so if you want me to get you on a good day, please respond to the final question with a date that is best for me to come in and get one, otherwise I'll find you at random to get a photo no matter what you're looking like!
Not all questions will be used for example, if you like films but not games then leave the answer blank
the questions were:
what their pronouns are
what their favourite game at the edinburgh branch was
if your playlist is on in reception, what can we expect to hear?
what's your escape reality strength?
if you could have any superpower, what would it be?
what's your favourite colour?
what's your favourite film?
what's your favourite video game?
what's your favourite board game?
tell us an interesting fact about yourself
if you could choose a meber of the team to be with you in a zombie apocalypse, who would it be, and why?
this was then sent to everyone but has now been put on hold due to staff changes.
