Views from the East

Nothing super specific or special today. Stayed in and just relaxed or tried to. The main purpose of our trip was to introduce our daughter to my wife’s family. The majority of them are never going to leave Newfoundland so we had to travel.

So the past two weeks have involved a lot of traveling to visit family members or having them dropping in. My wife and I haven’t had much down time. So anytime we can relax we try to.

First two are Cod Bites and fries with gravy. First one is from a food truck that’s open on weekends. The second is take out from the grocery store. The food truck was superior.

Next three are what we had for dinner. My wife had lobster and I had stewed fish. I’m not a lobster fan which works out in my wife’s favour.

Dildo part 3.

After our visit to the Dildo Brewery we went for a stroll. We found a couple different statues of Captain Dildo as well as the Magic School Bus.

Dildo part 2.

Of course the town of Dildo has a Dildo Discovery Centre and if that doesn’t make you chuckle even a tiny bit you’re dead inside.

The real reason we chose Dildo was for the brewery. Both the wife and myself like to try different beers. What we didn’t know was that about 60 Misses Roper from Threes Company were going to parade through the brewpub. A few stayed behind for a drink or two but most moved on.

I sampled seven of their beers, my wife had four and two cocktails. Weakest of the beers was their IPA, then again I’m not a fan of those to begin with. Drinks were delicious, food we had was mediocre. However some of the other dishes that came out looked far superior.

Part One of our couple’s getaway to Dildo.

My wife and I booked one excursion away leaving our daughter with her grandparents. We decided why not spend a night in Dildo, yes I’m 12 and I giggled.

We stayed in a heritage B&B built in the late 1800s. It was a cozy little place overlooking the water. Our room didn’t but the front porch and sunroom did.

After checking in we decided to check out Nan and Pop’s Dildo souvenir shop followed by a late lunch/appetizer at the Dildo Coffee shop. The sandwiches, soup and iced lattes were amazing.

Today we took a trip to Lester’s Farm with my wife’s cousin and her kids. We got to go into the pony enclosure as well as the cow enclosure and pet the animals.

Breakfast time. The speckled egg is a turning egg and the plain one is a chicken egg. Turkey egg is far superior in flavour. For breakfast today I had a turkey egg, black pudding and homemade bread.

As it crept from day into night the fog slowly rolled in from the ocean. It gives off a slightly eerie vibe when the entire landscape is slowly enveloped by the fog until you can no longer see it.

The start of a one month vacation. Glad to be away from work for a while. Just sitting back enjoying nature and a few drinks with the in-laws.
