The layering of photographs allows the reader to get an more overall mood of the situation in the scenes. I feel the change of pace between spreads keeps the reader engaged.

Forward Magazine, a very minimal fashion publication. What I feel is working is the type structure, how the change to bold signifies a change of conversation.

The type layered over the images really creates an impact visually but the most interesting aspect of these posters is the tone of language to connect the audience.

The last experiment looked a bit naff paring two images which don’t really compliment each other. I then had a brainwave of excitement and decided to overlay labels on the photos. The last image is paired with the exact label it was bought with.
I feel like these spreads need to capture the grittiness of charity shops while always inspiring people. I have quickly placed images which capture the realism of the shops next to the high fashion imagery.
Experimenting with layouts with an interview with blogger Louise Croft. Trying to involve the handwritten type which you find at charity shops.
I love the structure of this design by the placement of page numbers and the way the imagery is celebrated on each page.

Experimenting with charity objects and photography!
Inspiration images of still life photography from Pinterest.
The reasons why I am looking at these for inspiration is I want to create imagery which show charity shop items in a contemporary format to support my publication
OPAQUE a fashion publication which is “specially crafted for youthful, edgy, bold individuals. Published monthly, every magazine has different series with specific topics such as this “Spectrum” series. Each will cover on fashion, beauty, DIYs and lifestyle. This way, you guys can look for inspiration easily since every magazine is categorized.”
I find these spreads quite engaging and playful, the type looks readable even when designed in a playful context.
When you stumble upon layers and layers of free charity shop price labels...

I love how these spreads play on texture and paper manipulation. The J is also great!

Exploring fashion editorials I came across this layout with I found quite playful with type and image layout. When designing my publication I need to figure out how to create a layout which celebrates my imagery.

In general, individuality is part of the larger shift in fashion and the creative community as a whole. People no longer have to stick a pre-designated ‘box’ when it comes to fashion and I don’t think there’s the same pressure to be cookie-cutter. You can find your own voice.
