☆ synopsis: a glimpse of how y/n copes with a group dealing with conscription, until..

SEVENTEEN’s enlistment has been far more painful than you thought. members leaving one by one, the number of people on Thunder’s comeback stage decreased, you felt.. lost.
especially during Going Seventeen, your favourite type of schedule since the beginning. you have always adored the funny dynamics between you and the members, and to what extreme all of you were willing to go in order to earn some laughters from carats.
it was especially fun when the evil trio was up to something — you, jeonghan, and joshua.
any evil plan will begin with jeonghan or joshua, and you would follow along. despite the age difference, the youngest and the eldest seem to get along the best.
your favourite moment was teaming up against other members with a game of foot volleyball.
somehow, the management put the three of you on the same team.
with all of you being good in sports, and the cheating tactics up on your sleeves, it wasn’t surprising that your team won.
leaving the fans to call the three of you “the evil trio”.
however, with jeonghan’s enlistment, it didn’t feel the same anymore.
it was fun teaming up with joshua to carry out sneaky tricks, but without jeonghan guiding and teaching you newer tactics to combat the other members, you felt empty.
with that, the members had gotten busier. there were lesser schedules for Going Seventeen, and lesser time together with the members.
during this period, you have also made your solo debut, topping the charts and attending a ton of variety shows. your popularity was over the roof.
it has gotten to the point where you were having your own solo concert due to this.
you needed an outlet to make yourself feel happiness through performing.
even when your beloved members weren’t accompanying you.
during the preparations, you affirmed the management that you could handle it, even adding some of SEVENTEEN’s songs into the setlist, along with your own.
you practiced your hardest, spending long hours in the dance studio perfecting any detail, while ensuring that your vocals were up to standard. being the only female member, there was already a certain expectation, and you wanted to not only live up to them, but exceed them as well.
despite this, the members have been nothing short but supportive.
minghao and vernon had composed a new single for you, one that you would perform as a surprise during the concert.
the leaders has always been coming down to your dry runs every time they could, so that they could give you the constructive feedback you require. each time. they will hype you up and cheer you on, so that you could always portray the best version of yourself every time.
seungkwan, dino and jun took any opportunity they could to promote your concert, going on WEVERSE to talk about your preparations , or while on other shows, telling the audience to buy the tickets and support you.
dokyeom was there, helping you with the vocals for SEVENTEEN’s songs. even though he took every chance he could to tease you, he gave you the best advice no one could.
mingyu and wonwoo, even though he has enlisted, have always sent you messages of encouragement everyday, one that keeps you going. every time you had a late schedule, you would always see a lunch box situated at the door step, with a little note saying ‘remember to eat y/nnie~ -mxw’
joshua and jeonghan? they tried to come down to watch you practice every time they could, and you were the most excited when they could. hoshi complained once that your eyes sparkled at jeonghan’s entrance, while you didn’t even notice him clapping at the side when you finished.
they came down at separate times, when they finished their schedules or they happened to pass by, and when they did, you made sure to take a mirror selfie with them, and show it to carats on WEVERSE.
however, as the concert neared everyone’s schedule got busier, with the trainings and photoshoots clashing with one another. it has been some time you have seen at least half the group gather together, and you have been missing those moments so much.
a day before the first concert in Seoul, you went on WEVERSE to see carats for some time during your break. you were in the dance studio, a cap covering your head, your body dripped down in baggy clothes — your usual.
“hello carat-deul, how are you doing?” you asked, your voice soft, running towards the speaker to turn down the music in the background. you were listening to dino’s new song for the EWC, vibing to it while stretching.
“the song? it’s chan’s song from EWC! did you all watch the performance? it’s so cool, right?” you spoke, your smile bright and proud.
“he’s been preparing hard. while i prepared for the concert, i can hear the song blasting next door! we have been eating dinner together every day before he left.” you continued, reading through the comments.
the comment section was lively, with fans complimenting your outfit, telling you how attentive you were to your fellow members, and asking for spoilers for the concert.
“spoiler? i can’t tell you that~ you should ask hoshi oppa, he knows my whole setlist.” you commented, laughing at the comment.
you sat on the floor, your arms wrapped around your legs. you stared at the empty studio, a million thoughts running in your head. you sighed, shaking your head.
“it’s pretty empty, right? usually the room is filled with staff members and the members. but these days i’ve been working alone. everyone’s pretty busy, haha.” you began, pouting your lips gently as you spoke. you turned around, staring at the cameras.
“the oppa-deul didn’t mention if they are coming for the show the next few days. do you think they’ll come?” you asked softly, reading the comments while you did so.
the comment section flooded with sweet encouragement from the fans, saying,
“they’ll definitely come!!”
“no one loves SEVENTEEN more than SEVENTEEN does.”
“i’m sure the members misses their maknae too!”
you giggled, a smile flashed on your face. you looked down at your wrist, lifting it up to show the bracelet to the camera.
“shua oppa made this for me. it’s my favourite colour! and i think he mentioned that he made a matching one for himself and jeonghan oppa.” you mentioned, anticipating the reaction of the comment section.
as expected, the fans roared with excitement hearing your words. they have been missing the interaction between the three of you so much, and now that they knew about this, they certainly aren’t letting it go.
right then, a notification popped up at the top of your phone. you read the message, the corners of your lips curling upwards at the sight of it.
“kyeom oppa and hoshi oppa are asking me to go out for dinner! i’ll catch up again next time, alright?”
you looked up at the ceiling, smiling brightly.
“stay safe, carat-deul~ drink lots of water and eat good food. see you tomorrow at the show!”
you waved goodbye, sending a flying kiss to the camera, before stopping the live.
you took your phone in your hand, texting hoshi a reply, before leaving.
it was a few moments before the start of the concert. you have your hair and makeup ready, changed into your first outfit, and your hand clenched onto your blue microphone.
you have called minghao and jun before this (or more like they called you). they knew that you would be upset that they didn’t turn up. but you understood anyway, after all they have their personal schedules in China.
the others have sent you encouraging messages hours before, the texts flooding into one by one. with all that, you felt more pumped to perform, making you more excited for this particular moment.
the concert had been a smooth-sailing, yet fun one. the cheers of carats moved you, making you put more energy into your movements and singing. during the short intermission between each set, you were completely focused on the fan boards and the shouting of some carats, making you laugh.
it has reached the encore, where you were performing a ton of SEVENTEEN songs and even repeats of songs that you have already sang.
you had the whole stage to yourself, making you hop and dance around every corner, so that each member of audience could catch a glimpse of you.
but right at that moment, right when ‘holiday’ ended, amongst all the light and sparkles, you saw the light dim, making the venue dark. shocked, you looked around, panting.
“what’s going on?” you spoke into the microphone, feeling confused.
suddenly, the fans began to scream and point at the large screen, capturing your attention. you turned around, to feel your heart almost jumping out of your body.
you see an array of photos, old and new, from the years of idol life. from debut stages, photoshoots, Going Seventeen, to snippets that carats did not see before, it felt like a walk down the memory lane.
“oh? what’s this? did you all know about this?” you asked, looking around the crowd.
when you heard a resounding ‘no’, it made you even more confused.
until you saw seungcheol’s face pop up on the screen.
“hello, it’s SEVENTEEN’s s.coups. y/n, you must have been surprised, right? your oppa here is so proud of you, and seeing how much you are enjoying the concert, it made me feel like watching you for the first time in the dance studio 12 years ago. you have grown so much, our maknae~”
“y/nnie!” seungkwan’s voice rang. “you have done such a good job! i have always wished for BSS to have a concert, but our maknae took our spot instead.. but i’m happy it’s you and not everyone else. i’m still sulking for you not asking me to feature during your concert. but with or without us, i know you will shine so much.”
mingyu appeared next, his hair fluffed and glasses almost falling off his nose. “happy concert day! the venue seems so lively now. you know how well you did, right? carat-deul screaming, your persona flashing so brightly, you were made to be on stage. let’s grab a meal when we meet again next time~”
“y/nnie my horangi partner! you have always carried the energy that i never expected one to have. you are my concert partner, and someone i can rely on when things get too tough. thank you so much, and being a constant light in my life.”
“y/n-ah, it’s your kyeom-kyeom! training you and your voice since you were young has been tough, especially with how passionate you are. but even though you are 2 years younger than me, i found myself learning so much from you. you are my inspiration, and someone that i can rely on~”
“my age twin! knowing you have a concert after my performance at the EWC, i knew i had to put in more effort into my performance. i just know we will ace them no matter what. y/n-ah, let’s have a maknaez concert next time before i enlist.”
“y/n, i still remember how you cried the day before i enlisted, because the team had to leave then because of a concert at Mexico. but i have been watching you ever since, actually since forever. you are such a treasure to the team, and i am so grateful for it.”
“y/n-ah, it’s jun oppa! i have missed seeing you mock and make fun of me with seungkwan. but despite those i wish i could come today. i would give anything to watch our maknae shine on that stage, but i know you will do well!”
“composing that song with vernon came with ease, because we know you too well. your voice and personality shines through, and i am so glad i could bring your essence into the song. you did well, y/n, rest well after the concert!” minghao spoke.
“you did well, y/n. thank you for caressing my head every day ever since i got that buzz cut, i think my head misses your affection. but because of you, i think i’ll keep this hair cut.” vernon said with that same nonchalant tone, although you can’t deny that there was a tinge of sweetness in his voice.
“y/n-sshi, i’ll never forget you tormenting my life for making me do wooahae every time we are on set. as much as i don’t want to, i’ll do it for you, if it makes you happy.”
“y/n-ah! it’s your shua oppa! i have missed playing around with you and going out for lunch every time we could. you are my favourite for a reason, and don’t forget to keep smiling, oppa will always cheer you on!”
“boo! are you surprised? it’s your hannie oppa. y/n-ah, i have missed you so much. even though you call me once every 2 days, i miss the times when i don’t get to see you. you are the light of my life, and someone that keeps inspiring everyone you walk by. you have done a great job, you have made me proud.”
as the screen dims, and the lights flashed again, the awes from fans soon erupted when they saw your figure.
curled up in a ball, your hands covering your face, as you sobbed softly in the middle of the stage.
your microphone sat on the stage, your hands rubbing your eyes while trying to calm yourself down.
you did not know this would happen, and seeing all the member’s faces and smiles, you felt so overwhelmed with love, knowing that they were proud of your milestone. through the years, you have struggled so much to gain the love for being the only female member. now, holding your own concert, with tens of thousands of fans supporting you at the venue, you couldn’t be more grateful.
seeing you sob uncontrollably, carats began chanting your name loudly, hoping to cheer you up and see you smile again.
you rubbed your eyes with the hoodie sleeve, standing up while holding the microphone to your lips, speaking in a shaky voice, “wah, they didn’t tell me about this. is this why they gathered at the studio for one week?”
the audience cheered, as you looked around. your eyes gazed at the audience lovingly, when your vision landed on a group of people.
a bunch of males, to be exact.
“hold on, unnie pan towards that section!” you pointed, signalling at the camera woman.
on the large screen, you saw them.
the members that have watched you grown.
they were jumping, some were tearing, while swinging your banner around.
the camera panned to each and every one of them, making you count the members.
they were all there. (except for the chinese members)
and there it was, the infamous jihan pairing, with jeonghan wrapping his arms around joshua.
that did it for you, seeing your favourite people right there.
“oh my god..” was the last thing you could say before you began sobbing again.
you crouched down, covering your face while recollecting yourself.
and so touched by their actions.
you sat there, while your ballad song began to play in the background.
while you cried, the fans cheered continuously for you, and the members began to shuffle.
not long after, you felt a pair of arms wrapped around you, along with the loud cheers from the crowd.
you looked up, to see jeonghan and joshua right in front of you, their smiles brightening up the shadows around.
one by one, the members hugged you, creating a group hug between the group.
the cheers grew louder, as you felt your sobs beginning to subside.
you looked up, hearing a familiar song in the background.
ima — even if the world ends tomorrow.
you heard dokyeom’s voice ring through your in ear monitor, speaking, “let’s enjoy this moment together, and make new memories!”
all of the members gathered in a circle, the formation of ima. they waited for you, their gazes on yours. jeonghan led you to the group, as you connected your hands with them.
“even though we may not be together physically right now, but in our hearts and mind, we will be together for eternity!” you shouted into the microphone, as the song began.
for the rest of the concert you were either crying happily, or jumping together with the members. you had a dance battle with dino and hoshi, and a sing off with seungkwan.
to end it all off, a group photo was taken from seungcheol’s phone, before a solo photo of you with the crowd was taken as well.
for the finale, you passed seungcheol your microphone, signalling him to say his words.
all of you stood in a line, hands clasped with each other.
“this has been SEVENTEEN. Say the name, SEVENTEEN, thank you so much!”
“you all are so mean for making me cry like that on stage!” you whined, pushing chan’s shoulder lightly while they laughed.
“it was fun trying to guess your reaction.” dokyeom commented, grinning like a child.
“who thought you would cry like we don’t exist anymore?” seungkwan added, ruffling your hair.
your hand clenched on your water bottle, laughing as you listened, wiping off the remaining tears off the corners of your eyes.
“as i said before, her eyes lit up brighter when she saw jeonghan hyung and shua hyung.” hoshi mentioned, pointing towards the two eldest members, who were watching you fondly.
jeonghan walked over, wrapping an arm around your shoulder.
“i heard from ddadu saying that you talked about me for at least 2 hours a day.” he laughed, rubbing circles on your upper arm.
you pouted, glaring at seungcheol, who was at the side, where he stood nervously, laughing it off.
you rolled your eyes, as joshua walked over as well.
“since we are all here, let’s eat dinner together?” he suggested.
“and of course, the star decides.” jeonghan said, looking down at you.
“then coups hyung is paying!” mingyu added.
“yah!” seungcheol replied, shoving mingyu.
you laughed, hugging both joshua and jeonghan, who were by your sides.
you definitely missed this.
