Thanks to all for making my birthday the best 🥳🎉 I spent the best week with you and I hope to see you soon.
Onion poot and a SCARED stuffed something or other... spotted at a car boot sale in Bathgate, Scotland.
Was Ubuyashiki aware of the Kamado Family history?
A good question Anon!
While Ubuyashiki does keep tabs and he does seem to know a large majority of them by name, I think that unless they have a large amount of potential - like they could become a Pillar/Hashira levels of potential - then he wouldn’t do a deep look into their family history etc.
Since Tanjirou was new to the corps when they met - like, literally had only been on two missions before meeting him new - Ubuyashiki most likely wouldn’t have known anything about Tanjiou’s family!
Another thing we have to take into consideration is that Tanjirou’s whole family was killed, they weren’t demon slayers and lived isolated in the mountain so all family history - both known and unknown - will have practically died out, with the exception of Tanjirou and Nezuko plus the connection that their ancestor Sumiyoshi had with Yoriichi wouldn’t have been known at all - in fact tanjirou didn’t find out about that connection until meeting Yoriichi in that dream sequence (was it a dream sequence??) - so their family history would have been condensed down into something along the lines off “Slaughtered by demons”
On to the muzan part of the question!
The basic answer would be no, Ubuyashiki wouldn’t have known that Muzan was the one to kill Tanjirou’s family unless Tanjirou himself had specified - I can’t remember if in the meeting Tanjirou himself says it?
I was always under the impression that Ubuyashiki had a hunch in regard to the Kamado brothers, after all the whole family is known for their ability to foresee future events!
funniest thing about the “reddit migration” is that I haven’t seen a single post shitting on anyone coming from Reddit. when twitter started bleeding users everyone was firing rent-lowering posts but with redditors skittering about we’ve left the doors open and put out food bowls

Forgive me
𝕒𝕣𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕙𝕚𝕞 … ?
𝓈𝓎𝓃𝑜𝓅𝓈𝒾𝓈: you had anticipated that that the newly famous slayer, Tanjiro Kamado, would meet up with you. but you never thought that he'd ask you questions about none other than your new boyfriend, Muichiro Tokito. even though the boy didn't even know you were together, he seemed greatly interested in your relationship ...
𝓌𝒶𝓇𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔𝓈: none
𝓇𝑒𝓂𝒾𝓃𝒹𝑒𝓇: likes and reblogs are greatly appreciated, and all the love i got for my first headcanon on here really did motivate me to write this with as much effort as possible put in!
you never knew that being a Hashira could be so ... relaxing.
walking around the Swordsmith Village, the faint and yet so loud sounds of the clink clink of metal against metal, blacksmiths forging Nichirin Blades, you felt exactly that.
being the Snow Hashira had proved a hard job, especially the part where you had to gain the respect of all the other Hashira. honestly, it was a seriously challenging time to rise up the ranks and joined the most powerful slayers out there.
many Hashira had died, and many were to die in the coming future. the Twelve Kizuki were becoming everything but weak as the slayers were becoming more and more vulnerable.
but that, all those thoughts, left your mind as the laughter of frantic children reached your ears.
they were running around, like they were playing a fun game of chase. all of the kids had masks tied securely onto their faces, like everyone in the Swordsmith Village.
one child accidentally knocked into your leg, the nose of his little mask poking your flesh. he squealed a bit and moved back immediately, realising who you were. "sorry! i'm so sorry, dear Hashira! have mercy on me! i did not know where i was going!"
his hair was a deep blue, you could almost mistake it to be the color of black. there were white streaks in it, his hair, you meant, as well, and by the sounds of whimpers in his voice, you suspected he was about to cry. and all because of you.
"h-have m-mercy on me ...' he whispered. "not like that other Hashira ... please."
you couldn't feel more merciful at that very moment.
and then you bent down a little and looked at him, and even though you couldn't meet his eyes because of his mask, the poor kid seemed to shake in fear as you tried to do so. you must have looked rather stern to him, anyway. the Hashira all did, all the time, no matter how they felt.
children these days seemed to think that the Hashira were gods ... when really, it was the opposite. and if it was like their beliefs, then the gods were being beaten, and there was nothing anyone could do about it. no one could help.
but these were kids, and letting them know about the sadness of the world would be genuinely rather evil.
you just looked straight at him, long eyelashes batting slightly as you tried to register what this child was trying to say and basically just attempt to ask yourself just who that 'other Hashira' the kid was talking about could be.
ah, yes. him.
him.
you couldn't apologise for that man, that boy, that certain stupid, stupid, stupid fourteen-or-fifteen-year-old. he'd never allow it, you apologizing for him now, anyway, if he were here at this very moment. you knew him well.
you blinked a few more times at the poor little boy, who seemed to be rather confused at your actions.
you murmured an apology softly to the kid, though that didn't seem to catch his attention at all, and you stopped your apology halfway. maybe you'd been talking to the Hashira, who all had great hearing and seriously honed eardrums, too much.
then you patted his head, smile on your face. "it's alright," you reassured him. he looked as if he was grinning from behind that brightly-colored mask of his. "everyone does those things sometimes, even me."
but the kid was already running away, giggling and laughing at his friends, who all beckoned him back into the game that they were playing, altogether as a group, you waved at him.
he waved back at you rambunctiously, as if he'd just made a new older friend.
but then again … you were just acting like you were going to be alive for him to see you ever again. demon slayers did a lot for the public, and one of those things was risking and often sacrificing your lives for the sake of, well, the safety of others.
you couldn’t worry about that right now, though. you had better things to do, like train with that 'doll' that was rumored to be somewhere in the Swordsmith Village ...
walking away from the small scene, you grinned to yourself. it was an uncontrollable thing, though. you couldn't stop it. the kids here were so polite, unlike where you came from. they apologised way too much, though.
rudeness was sometimes appreciated in this place. you'd seen a lot of it coming from demons, anyway.
you heard silence all around you, enjoying the peace as quiet. but quicker than lighting itself, you heard quiet footsteps. your mind told you it was just a normal, average pedestrian, but your heart told you something different.
something very different.
suddenly, your hand made its way to your katana. the hilt was a gold snowflake, circling around the blade itself, and you always clenched that part of your weapon ... when there seemed to be something dangerous nearby.
there was a person behind you, maybe even a demon, if worse came to worst.
hoping that it wasn't a demon, even though that was the creature you were simply born and bred to fight and hate with gusto, you slightly unsheathed the blade, the newly forged metal sparkling in the early morning sun, and whipped around.
thankfully, it wasn't a demon.
a boy, around the same age as you, maybe even a year or so older, stood there. he was about a couple of centimeters taller than you, and his friendly pair of reddish-black eyes matched the color of his hair as he looked right at you.
“and so we meet, y/n-san.”
“Tanjiro Kamado. couldn’t wait for the moment I got to lay my eyes on you, fellow slayer. i believe that you have been getting fame and all, becoming Tsugukos to everyone and anyone who asks?”
“well, I’ve sort of pushed them away, so no. it seems that anyone will take in a new and young slayer and send them to their deaths.”
“it wasn’t always this easy for younger slayers to rise up the ranks. when I first came in, I was classified as too young, not experienced, and quite inefficient. I am a Hashira now, I cannot lie, but that journey was … long.”
“being accepted into here with a demon on my back, literally, hasn’t been the best, too.” Tanjiro gestured to his back, where the box carrying his little sister, Nezuko, was meant to be.
he was only here for a new blade and final stages of rehabilitation, and Nezuko being carried on his back would sap his strength and make the journey to recovery harder and harder.
however, you still wished you could actually see her, see a demon who wouldn’t hurt a single human for the first time.
Tanjiro must have noticed the look on your face, because he inquired how you were feeling.
“the Love Hashira was here as well. she was taking a bathe in the hot spring nearby a few hours ago, though, so i didn't pay much attention to her. there seems to be a whole lot of Hashira coming here.”
“we’re demon slayers and all, and we need blade. the Hashira are very much experts at breaking their blades, as some might think. I’m here for the hot springs as well as the Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji. the last mission I was on didn’t end very well.”
“hmm? oh, that’s unfortunate. I’m hoping your recovery will be speedy, dear Snow Hashira!” Tanjiro clasped his hands together and bowed slightly to you, an act of pure respect. you smiled, liking this sudden spotlight he seemed to be shining at you with.
“thank you, Kamado-kun.” you smiled at him once he was properly standing up again. this boy was very literally a machine that only exported kindness and positivity.
“I find it hard to believe that you do not call me by my first name, but I am permitted to call you by yours. let us make this simple, and just call me Tanjiro!” the red-haired body exclaimed. you two were lucky you were not getting any attention.
“sure, then. Tanjiro. why did you come and talk to me in the first place?” you asked.
the boy’s face lit up as if he’d just remembered something. “ah. now you ask, I suddenly remember. the Love Hashira knows that both you and another Hashira are in this village right now, and invites just you, and me to a meal.”
“ah, of course! I don’t think, even if the Love Hashira did invite that certain Hashira, that he would actually come. you see, he’s not much of a social person. but I will most definitely come. no hesitation is included in my words, none at all.”
Tanjiro grinned. “then come with me. she is already waiting for us! she knew you would accept, so she didn't bother waiting. ” he slightly gripped your arm, and then led you to where the Love Hashira was staying, near where Tanjiro and the demon Nezuko were also living in comfort at.
“and Nezuko’s going to be there, too!” you appreciated that Tanjiro still acted as if his little sister was actually human. it didn’t draw attention, for one, but it just seemed to others that you guys were just normal slayers that were talking about a mission of some sort.
actually, you appreciated a whole lot of the things that the boy did. he was a truly respectable demon slayer, and his newfound fame was only one of the things that he'd managed to achieve in his time slaying demons.
it was hard to believe, though, how you'd only been a demon slayer half a year, and he'd been a slayer for about two years now, and that you two were at such different spots in your lives.
he seemed to be living his best life, trying to find a solution and everything for his little sister. you were different. death was always at your door as a Hashira, demons at every corner of every alleyway. you had to be alert, or your life might be taken too early on.
you embraced death as a friend so you could save others, while Tanjiro fought off death as best as he could so he could save others as well, but in a different way. your attitudes were very, very different too, you observed.
it was almost as if fate didn't want you to meet up and become friends. but hey, fate can be cheated once or twice in a person's life, and this was only one of the times that you were to cheat fate, anyway.
as a Hashira, fate was like a merchant. you could trade, and you could cheat however you wanted. but then again, fate could also get a hold of you and never let you go, after one too many trades or one too many times you cheated it.
fate didn't want Tanjiro and you to be friends. but you two didn't care. you two didn't care at all, to be honest.
Now, you two were one. you were supporting each other in the Swordsmith Village, no matter what the future was going to bring.
both of you walked past many buildings on your way, both adults and children living in peace and harmony together as they chatted, played, and just stayed together.
you betted that the little children were not even aware of the fact that the Swordsmith Village was actually a secret.
the environment surrounding the Swordsmith Village was most certainly beautiful. the bushland and the trees made amazing shapes around the village, giving it a mysterious personality and some texture, let alone color to the place itself.
the houses and things gave it an homely aesthetic, like the Swordsmith Village was somewhere that anyone and everyone could call home. you had the noisy neighbors and the children that caused chaos everywhere, that was for sure.
Tanjiro smiled softly every time he caught you looking away from him and at basically everything else around the both of you. he loved seeing people happy, and you were not an exception to him. no, you weren't an exception at all.
you deserved what you had now, your position as a Hashira, your immense power and all that. you’d gone through enough.
and what you had gone through was almost godlike compared to what he had gone through. he felt as if he needed more … experience.. more training, to become the best slayer he could.
he felt that he needed to become more like you, in a way.
and if this, if this peacefulness, is what the demon slayers were bringing to the world, then it was just all the more reason to want to be more like them, more like a role model.
sometimes, he missed his old life, back at the mountain with both his parents and all his other siblings who were sadly dead now ... when Nezuko was still a human and actually had a chance to get married, have children, and live her best life.
but looking at your wonderful face, looking at your amazement because of the place both of you were in, made him rethink about what he missed. he wouldn't swap being a demon slayer for the world now, it meant just too much to him.
it had become his life, and even though it wasn't ideal for a kid who had spent most of his life on a mountain, peacefully with his family, slaying demons to save the world and all that was an experience that had taught Tanjiro so much it was almost wrong.
the meal was really really good. being on missions literally all the time meant that you couldn't get nutritious food that made you full. you just got what you got, and you couldn't bother getting upset. you were just always too tired for anything like that, and it wasn't like anyone could blame you at all.
but still, you didn't bother eating much. it was just a habit that you had picked up from the urgency of being a slayer, but Tanjiro picked that habit up in a matter of seconds.
"y/n-san. you're not eating much at all! is something the matter ... is the food bad or anything?" you didn't respond at first, chewing on a piece of chicken before looking up at him to try and say something. then you tried to think of an excuse, a simple reason, for what you were doing.
'no, no. it's just a habit of mine that i've picked up over the few months of slaying and stuff. running around chasing demons with a full stomach does wonders for the enemy." You sighed, using your chopsticks to grab a clump of fluffy rice and bring it to your lips, before putting it back down into the bowl.
"well, then," the Love Hashira interjected, "you need to get rid of that habit, then! we're going to be eating LOADS in this place!" she flicked on of her thick braids over her shoulder as she said this.
"as you always do, dear Kanroji." you nodded your head at her, signalling the lady to keep eating. you knew that Kanroji had a huge appetite, and that it helped to save up her strength, so you didn't want to say anything about it. you were basically the opposite of her, you thought.
the pink-and-green-haired woman smiled at you, like she was grateful for your reaction to her words, before then scoffing down her fifth bowl of noodles in a couple of slurps. Tanjiro placed a few pieces of sushi onto your plate in a few quick movements of his wrist. then he started to speak.
"even though our fellow Love Hashira is quite obviously exaggerating right now, you still need to eat more. now and because you're on a break from fighting demons all the time, regaining your strength after your latest missions and injuries is an absolute must for a demon slayer!"
you smiled with all your might at the red-haired boy, nibbling slightly on the rice before giving in to your hunger and swallowing the piece you had in your chopsticks whole. you looked at everyone who was eating in the room, smiling sometimes when Tanjiro did something particularly stupid with his chopsticks or something.
Tanjiro watched Nezuko, who seemed to be having a great interest in the floor of the room. she was playing, or rather, looking like a slime and dragging herself around the small place. it was really entertaining to see, really. you had to describe the demon's actions like that, and you weren't sorry about it.
once you had finished your food, you put your stuff on the tray, ready to be cleaned up by someone else (thankfully), and shuffled over to Tanjiro and his little sister, who were playing with each other. even though Tanjiro was about 15 now, he always reverted back to a five-year-old whenever he cheered up his sister.
the relationship between the two was really rather entertaining and enlightening to watch. it was a miracle, really, that the red-haired boy was still alive. Nezuko might have killed him the moment she became a demon, and there were about at least 500 chances for her to kill her brother even after that.
dangers never seemed to end for Tanjiro, but he kept sympathising with demons and kept trying to stay positive no matter what. he was a true hero to you. you weren't a hero, just someone who had a huge amount of luck. Tanjiro had not much luck, apart from the fact that Nezuko hadn't killed him.
he'd survived so many things, against all the odds, and he'd killed a couple of Lower Rank and even an Upper Rank demon. you were sure that there was so much more in store for him, and if he managed to live long enough till after Kibutsuji Muzan was to be defeated, well, he could be very very successful.
you were thinking, but your gaze never strayed off Nezuko. the boy noticed your interest and sudden intrigue in his sister. "you can play with her, if you want, of course." Tanjiro beckoned you over, tempting you as best as he could.
you nodded and started to fiddle with Nezuko's hair, feeling how much softer it was compared to your h/c locks and how much prettier she was than you.
Nezuko made cute little noises as you played around with her, muffled slightly by her muzzle, as you smiled at her. Tanjiro could translate this new language. "she likes you. she likes you a lot, y/n-san. i can tell, even though she's speaking to me right now." you smiled, directed at Nezuko. she really was hard to not love, just because she was a demon didn't mean she wasn't cute.
then Tanjiro paused for a second, trying to translate Nezuko's slight grunts, directed to her older brother, which were basically the only thing filling the silence of the room at that very moment. he seemed to be trying to understand something complex in the words that his little sister said.
the Love Hashira grinned at the three of you, seemingly expecting Tanjiro to say something. she was strangely quiet. usually, she would be bursting with remarks. she must have been thinking about something, you knew. something that must have piqued her interest and now was occupying her mind rent-free. she didn't say anything, still, even after Tanjiro spoke.
"y/n-san, we've been trying to ask you this for a long time now. ever since i first met you at the Hashira meeting ... both the Love Hashira and i have noticed something. the relationship between you and another certain person ... i'm sure you know who this person is, anyway ... "
"Muichiro?" you questioned. then you knew, immediately. you'd been through this with a whole lot of people before. there was ... well, almost nothing between the Mist Hashira and you. at least, not for the last few months. that was your answer to Tanjiro, but no one in the room seemed satisfied at all.
Kanroji began to squeal slightly. "yes, yes, yes! him! it's definitely Muichiro-kun, no matter what! i know love when i see it, it's so obviously him! the way you used to freeze up whenever he entered the room, how low you bowed when you first met him, the change in your voice and tone every time you speak to him -"
"hang on a minute. you think ... you think i'm in love with ..." you began to laugh, but you stopped, seeing that everyone was ... everyone was serious! you face-palmed, trying to make everyone believe that you didn't have anything going on with the Mist Hashira. no one believed you, after all, they were demon slayers, training to notice the slightest things.
"obviously! he's perfect - he's absolute, completely perfect for you! your personalities match each other and are definitely compatible, anyway. what's not like about shipping you two - ?" the Love Hashira was cut off by the kind voice of Tanjiro, completely earnest and loving. just what you could expect from the red-haired boy. he didn't smile at you as he said this, this time.
"we ... we apologise for jumping to conclusions! if you don't have a relationship with the Mist Hashira, it's okay to say!" Nezuko hummed angrily at her brother, probably just annoyed by the fact that he was already giving up. she hummed quite loudly, and you almost wanted to shut her up. attention was definitely going to be attracted, the way things were going.
"mmm! mmm!" her muzzle vibrated against her lips, her anger clearly shown in these completely random sounds that Nezuko was making, though the message was really really clear to you. in fact, everyone's messages were being heard loud and clear through your ears, you just didn't want to answer them.
"Tanjiro-kun, it's so, so obvious! don't give up at all! let y/n l/n say their words and nothing else! the truth is a useful tool! (not me quoting Tighnari's lyric from that one HoyoFair song)" she stamped her feet angrily, expecting an answer from you immediately. the Love Hashira looked like a spoiled brat who hadn't gotten herway.
her face became red as the Love Hashira looked more and more riled up by your answers. she groaned more and more as your later answers disappointed her more and more as well. but you kept brushing her comments off and doing things your own way, steering the conversation the direction you wanted it to go to.
"of course i like him, he's my superior." you weren't going to yield just yet. Hashira, especially Hashira like you, were better than this. "i've looked up to him since the moment we met! he's always been better than me, even though that's really quite obvious, and so i don't know why you're mistaking this for -"
"then how come you don't have the same amount of love for the rest of us Hashira?" Kanroji asked. "how come you don't greet us with the same amount of cheerfulness or anything like that? how come that only goes to the Mist Hashira?" she sighed and looked into your eyes. be honest, for the sake of the gods!" her voice rose higher and higher, louder and louder.
"MMMM! MMMM!" Nezuko wasn't helping at all, as well. she kept making noises that weren't making the conversation easier to answer to, which made it harder to concentrate.
"it's okay if you don't want to answer that question! all of us are just rather impatient to see what the truth really is! i apologize if we've said something wrong or anything like that! please don't be upset, we're just ... we're just curious! and, just so you know, i didn't even come up with this! it was all the Love Hashira who wanted to know in the first place!"
"i'm the LOVE HASHIRA. i should know these things, and i just know about you and Muichiro-kun! in fact, i should know everything about your relationship by now! it's disappointing, for one, that that guy ignored me at the hot springs today when i said hi, and it's even more disappointing right now that you're refusing to tell me anything! i don't care if you don't tell Tanjiro-kun, but why not me??!!!!"
"MMMM!!!!"
"we're being too impatient on them! let them answer, it's okay if you don't want to, seriously! i'm not too sure if Muichiro himself might want to answer, so we just thought that you'd be a better option! we're ... we're so, so, so sorry about this, we just thought things like this would make our stay at the Swordsmith Village more enjoyable and more fun!"
"just admit it already! love is in the air right now, and i don't blame you for that! but denying your true feelings isn't something that you should do at all! it doesn't even seem like the sort of thing that y/n l/n would do, anyway! where's your honor?! where's your pride as a Hashira? have you just thrown all that away?"
"come on, they're just sort of stressed, i mean, we've kind of forced this on them, please just -"
"MMMM!!! MMM!!!!"
"say yes or no! it's pretty much simple!"
"MMMM!!!! MMMMM!!!!!"
"it's simple! do it! do it1"
"MMMMMMMMM!!!!!"
"FINE FINE FINE!' you screamed, the walls of the room seeming to rattle because of your voice. "I LOVE HIM, AND HE LOVES ME!!! WE GOT TOGETHER WHILE TANJIRO WAS ON THE MUGEN TRAIN KILLING LOWER MOON ONE -"
"YAY!!!!"
"Congratulations, y/n-san!" Tanjiro's voice was the loudest and most joyful of all, he seemed to be more interested in this than he let on to you. you sighed, as suddenly, sounds reached your ears. at first, you didn't know what it was, but you quickly realised without fail who the culprit was. the others heard the sound much later.
footsteps were heard outside the room before the door slid open. you must have grabbed someone's attention because of your shouting, but you didn't really care, for you thought that it was just one of the servants or something.
but it was the person that you didn't want to come in most.
the Mist Hashira,
your newly acclaimed boyfriend.
"n/n? i heard your voice while looking at the clouds, and i just came in to know what was wrong.' he came and sat down next to you, reading the situation in a matter of seconds. he realised just what had happened, looking at the Love Hashira and Tanjiro's faces.
Nezuko was the one who gave away everything, though. a demon's face always did, anyway.
his pale complexion became slightly pink - no wait, VERY PINK - as Muichiro, the high ranked demon slayer, the Mist Hashira blushed, because of you. you buried your face inside his uniform, blushing wildly as well.
he put one hand around your waist, the other under your chin, raising your face to his eye level. his light blue with a black outline orbs stared right into yours as Tanjiro and Nezuko suddenly felt rather uncomfortable and wanted to excuse themselves.
"what? y/n l/n is my girlfriend, and i don't see anything wrong about that," Muichiro said.
"Muiiii ..." you murmured. "i tried to keep it a seeeecrettttt ...."
this was the first time, ever, that Muichiro had done this to you, but he kissed you on the forehead, as if he was trying to tell everyone in the room at the moment that you were his, and nobody else's.
if anyone was to try and get you for themselves, they would be met with the wrath of mist, maybe even worse than that option, and even though no one in the room at the moment was even going to dare to do that ...
if there was one thing you knew about your new boyfriend it was that Muichiro was prepared for anything, anything, including death.
reminder: notes of any sort are seriously appreciated! this is only my second fanfic, well, my first demon slayer one, and anything of any kind would be amazing of you guys ~

PEDRO PASCAL as JAVI GUTIERREZ The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022) dir. Tom Gormican
