As my new fic may hint, I am a little bit obsessed with the Victor Gideon Grace Ashcroft dynamic for sooooo many reasons.

He is just so obsessed with her that it is absurd. I might make a full post outlining everything that I feel about their relationship, but for now I'll just include a couple of headcanons that I had from the beginning of the game through to the end:

Emily and Marie are different from the other clones, as they are actually a combination of Grace and Victor's DNA. I had this idea from the first time we meet Emily, and I really feel like Victor is the kind of person who would definitely combine his DNA with someone else's.

Victor never wanted Grace dead. The unleashing of the different waves was to test her, and his brazen confidence in her definitely meant he thought she could handle it on her own.

Leon was just a bonus for Victor. He is really all about Grace, but his ego did prompt him to tease Leon a bit, obviously.

Genuinely, I don't think Victor is a bad doctor or boss, he just doesn't care for ethics or morals. Up until the point where released the virus upon the facility (to fulfill what he truly believes is the greater good/ Spencer's will), he treated his patients to the best of his abilities, whether that be with experimental treatments or not. Obviously, he doesn't truly 'care' for his patients or staff, but that's because of this next point.

He only cares about Grace. I genuinely think that she is the only living person he cares about. Leon intrigues him, but ends up being an obstacle. His colleagues are intelligent, but at the end of the day they are disposable. Zeno is a means to an end. The fact that Grace threatened his entire purpose at the end, and all he did was stab her, while Zeno (man who is faster than bullets) got decapitated, says more than enough.

Victor lied in the last scene, when he said that Grace had no connection. I don't believe that for a single second, because earlier in the game he outright says that the blood tests prove that Grace is what he has been searching for. He lied, but I don't know why.

Okay, so I definitely didn't post the second chapter of my eldritch x desert duo fic just now.

I definitely haven't been desperate to post chapter 2 all week.

I definitely didn't wait until it was midnight so that it would be almost a week between chapters.

So definitely don't check out the new chapter that I definitely haven't been enjoying writing and naming.

What's this? A link? To a fic? No way!

In so much of the omegaverse stuff that I read or see, Beta's are really neglected. They're either treated as an 'unspecial' middle ground or the 'normal' caste in the ABO system, and I kinda think that's bull. In a lot of what I've seen, the hierarchy ends up being Alphas, Beta, Omegas, but then reality puts a good deal of focus on Betas as well, so, medically, its more like Alphas, Omegas, Betas.

I feel like this leaves a lot of unexplored possibilities for ABO, so I want to explore something else: Beta Focused ABO.

Betas are often overlooked or ignored in ABO, shoved into the middle of this hierarchy and expected to conform to this role of submissive to some and dominant to others, which just feels needlessly reductive.

Often, research is shown to be done on almost exclusively Alphas and Omegas, with research put into rut and heat suppressants, into the way the omegas and alphas pair and bond and the way the cycles work.

And betas find themselves left out. They are the “middle,” with no research done on their specific secondary gender markers. Because theirs are just the watered down version of Alphas and omegas, right? So why would they need individual research?

Again, I think this is absolute bull. I would like to propose a world in which this is not true, that Beta's are as variable as anything. Beta's aren't neutral. Beta's don't fit into binary gender roles by definition, and I think they should reflect that.

I am fine with a Beta who has no heat or rut, no lubrication, no physical differentiation, subtle scents. This is all fine. But I want more.

Give me a beta that has omega or alpha scent indicators without being either.

Give me a beta who reacts to alpha ruts as if they’re heats, and omega heats as if they’re ruts. 

Give me a beta who has all the scent markers as an omega, and yet experiences only ruts and doesn’t react to scent markers.

Give me a beta who reacts to heats and ruts, though experiences neither, and has hormonal mirroring. An alpha in heat, suddenly the beta is matching energy. Same with an omega.

Give me betas with no scent markers but a need to scent, or both scent markers, or mismatching markers and reactions.

Betas do not typically have knots or self lubrication included in secondary characteristics. 

So give me betas that experience dysphoria during heat or rut periods because they don’t have any of the biological aspects, yet they react to others or have the psychological aspects.

Give me betas that shift back and forth.

As someone who has enough issues with binary gender in the real world, I can't stand for having a second version in fanfiction. Give me nuance, give me variation, give me complicated betas and dynamics and relationships. Give me mess.
