Red flag. Snow Storm. Feb 8 2016.

World Tree 1234 / Images from Ground Zero / Photographs of 911 debris merged with foliage from the last surviving tree.

Ended up wandering West Broadway, D Street and Perkins Square for the next few hours, studying the facades of row homes, shop windows, passing young red haired, t-shirted guy with coffee cups prancing by to the ever-present crack of jets booming just overhead from the logan runways. Here are a few images that I think are ok.

While I am by no means religious, I have always been drawn to stories of miracles and spiritual presences as told in ancient texts; the old and new testaments of the Bible or other stories on the lives of Saints and prophets. I am just as intrigued by the experiences of the writers themselves as I am by their inspired accounts of miraculous events. Did they see some kind of physical phenomena in nature that they wishfully attribute to an act of God?  Were these stores unintentionally embellished when handed down through the centuries?  And how do interpretations originate?

The portfolio ‘Follow Me Into The Heart of The Garden of Darkness’ confronts the profound emotions brought forth by the recent passing of several friends and family, including my own mother.  At times disheartening, at other times filled with wonderment, these introspective thoughts and universal questions remain unanswered, preferring instead to hang powerfully in the air. Though I am by no means religious in the traditional sense, my work in this series entertains theological notions of death / rebirth. The making of these montages involves a process of seeking truth, enlightenment and salvation but it is the process itself that is important, as opposed to the finding of answers or faith within any religious dogma.
