What was that? He needed to say something. Come on, Damian, say something. Anything, instead of just standing there staring with a dumbstruck look on his face as Jon pulled away from the sudden lip-locked situation they had found themselves in and explained his reasoning. âUm⌠I..â Finally, his vocal cords seemed to be remembering how to function. âJon, I donâtâŚ.â Another incomplete statement. By some miracle, Damian managed to close his half-hanging jaw and swallow as he looked away from the young man.Â
âI donât know what to do in these kinds of situations. Iâve never⌠never even consideredâŚâ He shook his head slowly. âNow isnât⌠the right time? With my Father.. and my familyâŚâ God, he was stumbling over his words like a complete idiot - like he always swore that feeling some sort of attraction to someone else would cause. Was that what was happening right now? He supposed he had never really thought about the possibility of being more interested in Jon than just a close friendship. It was possible, he supposed. Wasnât it?Â
âMaybe we should.. get that pizza ordered and get the game systems hooked upâŚâ He cleared his throat and folded his arms across his chest. His brow furrowed as his mind spun to process this sudden change in dynamics among everything else he was working through right now.Â
Jon could feel himself shrinking up right after Damian started talking, his eyes darkening as he looked away from the man, feeling entirely stupid as to why he did that in the first place. âItâs okay, I know it was stupid of me to do so, Iâm sorry.â he mumbled, not knowing if he was gonna stay after that or not. He didnât think he should stay.Â
âNo, itâs okay. You donât have to try and do all of that. I can go if you want me to.â Jon mentioned finally looking at Damian. Face sullen, he tried to mask how he was feeling but something else broke through that made everything feel silly. His stomach growled loud, and he found himself blushing at the fact. âGuess, I could stay for some pizza,â he mumbled. âBy the way, that was my first kiss, so youâre still welcome for that one, dork.â
He sighed, finding it exhausting to just be awkward, and groaned. âAlright, enough of this awkwardness, are you ready to get your ass beat at video games or not.?â
