Jonny Boy;
When we first met, you were a kid in the wrong crowd. I got you out of there and when you got older, I found you in the wrong crowd again. I got you out of that too.
There's a pattern here, Jon. And its one you can't keep up. Why? Because you can't afford to do it anymore.
Derrick died. I'm in America. People here need you. They need to believe in something, Jon. London hasn't had much to believe in lately, and with me leaving, I'm proving a point here. I can't raise a kid here. But maybe, just maybe, you can make a difference enough to make this place worth raising a kid in.
Now, Anna is under the impression that her Uncle Jonny is a shining star. And I intend to keep it that way. Because you are a star, kid. You're fucking bright. I left a lot of my old life behind, but not without finishing something up for you.
I made guns. Don't ask. That's a conversation for another date. Maybe you can come visit and we'll chat over some burgers. I'll tell you the whole story.
It's a gun for you, Jon. Just you. Made for your weight, height, and movement. Yeah, who would have thought that I had an eye for that sort of thing? I sure as hell didn't. I believe in you, Jon. I believe in a better world and you're the start of it.
Give that skinny new partner of yours a shot. I interviewed him before he came in. He's not exactly all good but he's not all
bad either. He'll do some good with you.
Take care of Evie. Watch out for Meg--though she can take care of herself real well. Take care of yourself, Jon.
Don't make me hear a news story about a cop doing drugs and me finding out its you.
I wanna see you doing great things. I'm proud of you. And when I come back to visit, I expect to have a whole lot of good to see from your end.
Be good and be safe, Jon.
Also... I need a favor. You see, Toby left and so am I now. That leaves someone named Emrys Doyle alone at the moment. He's close to Meg, and he's close to Aleks I think too. But I need someone to watch him. Just to keep an eye on him.
He's falling into the wrong crowd, Jon. Just make sure you lead him back to some good. Remind him he can do some good. Try to, at least. I wouldn't bother looking him up in any computer, though. You won't find shit.
Good luck, Jon. I'm gonna keep in touch with you.
With care,
Roman
Its not that he'd forgotten about the letter, he just hadn't expected it to fall out of his journal when he picked it up off his night stand. He read through it again, a smile coming to his face. Roman. Always showing up when Jonathan needed him. He had hit a rough patch, again, and he was scared of having let down everyone he cared about again, but, after reading over this letter, he knows that Roman would be proud of him.
