A year and a half later and itâs still true. This horror story from my life is the second-most read thing Iâve ever written.

can we please bring back âin poor tasteâ as a concept
Because at some point it got folded in under âproblematic,â and now every damn thing that has Unfortunate Implications or deals with sensitive topics indelicately enough to raise hackles or gores somebodyâs sacred cow is treated as a grave injustice or a threat to society. Online activism culture has lost the vocabulary to express âthis deals with touchy stuff in a way many people might find inappropriate, and you should probably avoid it if insensitivity on this subject gets you angry/upset, but itâs not promoting hateful ideas or demeaning people or affecting anything but my opinion of the creatorâs sense of tact.â

Most reasons the most talented and productive people flee a given workplace can be avoided. Here are common mistakes, along with better alternatives.
I had a breakfast meeting with K, a dear friend who is getting ready to transition out of a toxic workplace. We went down the line of our best and worst workplace scenarios, and a few hours later, she sent me this. The fair treatment v. equal treatment consideration really struck a chord.
Heavens to Murgatroyd! The classic Hanna-Barbera character Snagglepuss as a closeted gay Southern playwright being investigated by the House Un-American Activities Committee!? That's the concept of the new comic series, Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles written by Mark Russell with art by Mike Feehan and being published by DC Comics. The first issue felt revolutionary gaining buzz and praise from critics and readers alike with the second issue coming to shelves February 7th. Writer Mark Russell joins Graphic Policy Radio to talk about the new comic series that has everyone talking. Mark Russell (THE FLINTSTONES, EXIT STAGE LEFT: THE SNAGGLEPUSS CHRONICLES) is a satirist who isn't afraid to go to very serious places. His stories take on Trumpism, bullying, war, genocide, historical amnesia and more. His work was featured on Forbes, Slate Magazine and Paste Magazine's best graphic novel lists in 2017. @Manruss
âYou only know a man by seeing the parts he doesnât show you.â The weird-cool Hanna-Barbera renaissance continues--first we got a straight-up action series of space heroes built around Space Ghost, then we got an edgy apocalyptic Scooby Doo and subversive Flintstones, and now--Snagglepuss is a southern gothic gay playwright with a complicated romantic past with Huckleberry Hound, and plenty of secrets in a world in which humans and humanoid animals live alongside one another. Thereâs plenty of fascinating queer coding to be had here, and Graphic Policy breaks it all down with writer Mark Russell. I love that the voices of my childhood have âgrown upâ to fill this adult comics space; as I said to Elana Levin last night, this feels like the best of the Sandman one-off stories from The Worldâs End, an odd little parallel reality that tells a heartbreaking and flavorful story in a world just to the left of ours. Russell, for a straight, non-southern guy, does a great job of finding an authentic voice here. Check it out.Â
Thus far, 2018 has been going quite well for Dwayne Johnson. With the exception of one weekend, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle has been at the top of the box office charts all year, and now he has Skyscraper up next.
Okay...I used to write for Cinema Blend. The âfun twistâ highlighted in the article is that The Rockâs character is a left below-knee amputee, like myself. Missing a leg is now a âfun twistâ to a summer action movie. Meanwhile, Iâm trying to figure out what kind of âfun twistâ I could yield by taking my leg off and chucking it in the general direction of Cinema Blend. So thereâs that.
One More Place to Write...
I like Tumblr, Iâve just never been very good at it. But Iâm willing to give it another go as my writing shifts, as my career changes, as everything moves in directions sticky and weird. So, here we go. Â
