Okay so I wrote a whole Thing but I think i figured it out. I was originally gonna comment how yeah, us Americans also drop a consonant (T) and how RT is just bad combination of letter to say - But BEFORE that, I remembered that someone noted that in the Lonely episode in s5, when Martin remember his name and was saying all elongated, he was saying it in Jon's accent. I'm not an expert on accents, so when I read that i was like "sure! angst fuel, i can run with that" and originally just though they were talking about "Maahhtin", BUT!! I think Jon DOES say it distinctly, in that he more clearly annunciates the T. It's not about how every english person drops the R (Mahtin) but how a lot of english accents (that are in the show at least) ALSO drop the T (Mah'in). To my knowledge, Jon Does Not Do That, which leads to the comparatively distinct MahTin pronunciation.
