Well you’ve already seen what I can be like on location over the break, but I’d be so glad to sail you around this summer completely sober, too. And hey – I don’t trust my boat with just anyone, but I’d even teach you some of the ropes. How are you used to traveling, by plane? Train? Hitchhiking? 

You might have passed the test. Honestly? A little bit of everything. Mostly planes if we’re going anywhere too far, but my mom’s a big fan of basically like, rocket-powered rollerblades when we’re just getting around a city. And hitchhiking? That’s definitely happened, although I usually feel safest when it’s in a pickup truck and I could literally jump out at like, any second. A boat would be a pretty fun change of pace. 

Oh! We were already in France for the wedding-not-wedding-new-wedding thing. So, we figured why not just stay and take advantage of already being in the city of love~ It’s absolutely beautiful, and it’s cliche but I might convince him to go there for our honeymoon, but we’ll see.  Oh yeah, you’d definitely do a lot more exploring. I know, right!? But if you do decide to explore the states, defintiely hop by New Orleans. I can hook you up with some amazing food.

Fair. Having to travel that far for a party was kind of a tease, when there was so much exciting world you could have snuck off to see -- I’m glad you didn’t waste it. Depends what you want to do on your honeymoon, though, I guess. I mean, if shopping and looking at old buildings is it, then you’re good. A lot of people seem to just want to hang out naked somewhere where people serve them fruity drinks all day, though, and Paris definitely isn’t the place for me. For sure! The Bayou thing seems cool, although maybe not quite as cool as the Florida Everglades? Guess I’ll have to check out both to help me decide.

Well I could tell you my picks. Or I could show you – you know, if I’m invited. I’m trying to get out of here this summer, too. I think I’m going a bit stir-crazy. 

Ew, traveling with you? Gross, you’re terrible company, I can’t think of anything I’d hate more.

Wes and I just spent a weekend in France and it was absolutely amazing. It would’ve been nice to stay there for a bit longer, but it was nice to just get away. And of course, if you’ve never been, New Orleans. But, I might have a slight bias. 

Just a weekend? Damn, look at you go, world traveler. That’s a long way to go for just a couple of days. I figure whenever I do a deep-dive in Europe I’ll stay for like, a month or more, hit up all the different countries -- isn’t it insane how they’re like, closer together than half the states in America are? Wild.

Why not? We split humans into categories based on when they were born, and a bazillion nerds born in the late eighties to nineties live by their Hogwarts house categorization. Why not in ways in which we love? It’s super cute that you got quality time, though! You’re so adventurous and shit, it fits. 

I mean, touche. I’ve never seen someone list their Hogwarts house and feel myself get all worked up or turned on by it, but I guess I don’t hate seeing what that says about them, either. Thanks! I thought it made sense, too. Me taking someone to a secret waterfall I like or jumping out of a plane with them is probably a lot more meaningful than like, kissing them sometimes. Maybe I don’t hate the love language thing after all.

Yes! Exactly! And if you aren’t into PDA, then give them more attention while you’re in the privacy of your own home. Or maybe while you’re at a movie or something where there’s not a lot of focus on you. It’s really learning about what makes both of you feel loved and comfortable.

Are there any two types that seem like they’d be like... extra bad together? What about like, the ‘doing stuff’ one and the ‘give me presents’ one, that’s probably a bad fit, right?

It’s just people have a different way of expressing love and it’s always best to figure out what your partners love language is so you can show them love in the way that they need! Like, if someone were to give me a gift, I’d appreciate it but I’m not the biggest gift person. I love cuddling and spending time with my partner more than getting things. But some people like giving things and getting things and it makes them feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. Physical touch is my number one.”

Okay, I think I’ve got it, then. So like, if I were dating a physical touch person I should throw them a bone and let them hold my hand in public sometimes even though I like to wander off and I think hands are kind of sweaty sometimes?

Love languages are the way that you like love expressed to you and the best way that you express love to other people. Physical touch and acts of service are mine, but there are so many different types! Like giving/receiving gifts, words of affirmation, and quality time. It’s a very important test for you and your partner to take to better express how much you love the other person. Trust me, if you’re getting in a relationship – or even already in a relationship, it’s really worth the time to take it! Even if you aren’t, it’s always good to learn more about yourself. 

So is it a ‘if your love languages don’t match your relationship is doomed’ sort of deal, or can you have a partner with a different love language and still rock the game of love? I just took the singles quiz out of curiosity, though, because I’m basically a cat when it comes to the curiosity thing, and apparently I’m quality time. What are you?

They’re like word languages except for your heart and not your mouth, it’s pretty obvious from the name I think? But you get sent links to take a test? Is it from Buzzfeed? Whenever buzzfeed sends me links it’s usually about a celebrity dying or random TV reboots that might happen, I never get any for when they put out cool quizzes.

Yeah, I just missed the ‘splitting love into categories’ thing, I thought love was pretty universal. It wasn’t Buzzfeed, which would have made more sense -- it was from the love languages website directly, which seems like someone must have signed me up as a prank or something. You can change your settings about Buzzfeed quizzes being push notifications, though, I get ones about how what food I choose will tell me where I should travel next like, constantly.

It’s exactly how it sounds: How we communicate love. My fam is huge on love languages cause they went with a pretty significant language barrier for a long time, but my dad still did acts of service for my mum. Mine is physical touch, which is just a pleasant way of saying “constantly horny”. 

I mean, it makes sense, I just didn’t realize that we’d actually as a human race gone and split love into different categories. I always thought love was just love, but apparently I love ‘quality time’ instead. Huh. You’re right, though, that is a really polite way of saying horny all the time. A fact which I did not know about you, cool.
