trans headcanons i have for hoppers and zootopia as a reflection on the amazing digital circus jax announcement
since transfem jax is canon i was figuring i would like to share some ideas for transmasc aus i have for hoppers, specifically titus. without further ado, let it commence.
regarding his name titus, here are two ways that can be done about it.
1. he was named titus at birth as in the insect world, titus is a feminine/gender neutral name rather than masculine.
2. he was not born as titus but rather had had a real female name, but was later nicknamed titus by his mother due to his naughty, bratty behavior.
he starts off as the bratty, spoiled spawn of the insect queen. at birth, he always had a enjoyment for satire, bullying, and mocking others, and was sadistic, henceforth this has helped him develop his bratty personality.
later on, when mabel interacts the council, he wanted to go home but the fact he attends meetings shows he was destined to be the next insect queen as soon as his mother dies. the fact he was raised as a girl could explain his casting decisions internationally. his mother gets squished by mabel and he and the council find out humans have been impersonating animals which was what mabel has been doing. figuring this out, this explains how he declared himself insect king rather than insect queen the title he would have had if he wasnt so vengeful.
this explains why they were hesitant to hail him: people say its cus he is an usurper but he is not, if he was he wouldnt be required to attend council meetings or even be a member. at this moment he was still presenting as female and it is unsure whether the council wouldve accepted him as trans or not if he was already out by then and at that time he didnt even think he was trans and only thought of himself still as a cisgender female as he hasnt questioned his own gender just yet at the moment.
it is implied he declares himself king to impersonate jerry. remember when jerry was mentioned. yeah he was at the animal council. he wanted to squish jerry just like his mother and the animal council did after mabel explained more abt jerry. he came to posing as jerry not wanting to be male but rather to mock and satirize him due to his sarcastic and bratty demeanor and as such wanted to reverse hopper technology and do his evil plans in a sarcastic manner rather than directly.
it was when he impersonated jerry he started realizing more and more he enjoyed being male more than female. when he hopped onto that body, he acted like he was enjoying the best time of his life even when initially he was acting sarcastically to mock jerry abt how jerry likes his body so much or something similar. going the transmasc angle his obsessive hatred towards jerry turned from hatred obsession to idolization to the point he wanted to become him more than titus himself. in other words, he came to robot jerrys body hating humans and impersonating him so he can mock jerry but him mocking jerry gave him gender euphoria when he started enjoying being male more and more. the one problem is how he removed his tie despite his knowledge of hoppers technology. however just as jax’s hatred of femininity prior to her being revealed as transfem stem from her claims of hating the maid dress and her despising her feminine designed bedroom, though over time this is revealed to be due to her insecurities and fears of not being seen as masculine and fears of being disliked if she were to be out as transfem, titus reasons for the tie could be similar if we go the transmasc angle and not the traditional oh shes hyperfeminine angle. this tie thing and maid thing show their fears of not meeting the requirements for their specific gender except titus is oblivious and immature albeit his high intelligence henceforth even when his disguise needed the tie to be convincing he still rejected it whereas if jax disguised herself as a girl such as ponmi or ragatha she almost certainly wouldnt reject any female items which would ruin such a disguise. however despite these similarities he sometimes hypocritically shows emotions of enjoyment especially when claiming he liked his body better or when he was so happy like a frat bro at the rally even if he was only trying to mock jerry could later explore in a similar way to jax where he was feared to be not seen as feminine and disliked if he were out as transmasc but given his sarcastic demeanor he chose to impersonate a male instead of doing what jax did which is express anger tho both are expressing anger just in diff ways.
that being said i still stand by the fact i really feel and i really wish pixar made titus female, knowing his female hierarchy and pixars lack of female representation in their main antagonists and his bratty teenage girl personality and how his psyche fits best with female villains and was disappointed lilypad was again sanctified and not pure evil female meaning no official pixar villain that is pure evil has female representation so titus kind of is working his ass off to lead it, but after jax transfem being canon or seeing jax as a whole i think transmasc titus provides an alternative angle albeit transmasc not being female representation but rather still male this is an alternative au/perspective i have. not fully clinged to it just having some ideas though im fully clinged to the latter idea of who he shouldve been, maybe this perspective could change my mind idk.
now that being said for transmasc titus and now the official transfem jax, this all adds back to transfem pawbert lynxley.
her backstory is heavily similar to cinderella. as a child, she was abused by milton who feared how feminine she was to the point he made her work in the mailroom like cinderella did as the familys maid, basically emasculated. she hated this treatment just as jax hated the maid dress or titus hated jerrys tie due to fear. as the second born son of the lynxley family. she had so much trauma she even needed an oasis for her belongings and for solace, which is far different from the lynxley family.
however just as jax initially rejects the dress or titus rejects the tie, pawbert always wanted her fathers approval and be masculine like her brother cattrick or her father milton which was why she made this plan to burn agnes patent, but her father kept abusing her as she was falsely perceived to help gary and judy. this was also why she rejected judys offer to be different from her family. im sure with all her injuries she knows by now her differences make her unique rather than weird, especially after her imprisonment she is able to learn from her mistakes.
i dont fully align with transfem pawbert (despite initially believing in it) but these are some ideas i have for her, just as i have for transmasc titus which im not fully aligned with but open to, transfem jax however im fully aligned with and always have been, it is canon and im so happy for jax!
hopefully we get trans for both titus and pawbert but im not too hopeful knowing its disney so im not fully strict abt trans for those two unlike jax which is 100% canon, meaning im open to alternatives such as gay cis male pawbert or cis female titus who disguise as male like mulan aus idk these trans aus are just ideas i wanted to share following transfem jax. daniel chong could announce titus is female which explains how the insect was falsely made as a dynasty consisting of insect king and insect queen as a false couple and their son insect prince only for the father and son to be one person that is the daughter of the insect queen who becomes a sadistic repulsive butterfly, really it explains why dave franco promoted titus unlike the other va who did titus caterpillar form but how international dubs had it otherwise.
also on a side note completely unrelated but i watched toy story 5 and found some hoppers reference, first with one of the tablets of bonnies shitty friends which i hate god fuck them (still fuck chelsea even if she had a mabel themed lilypad), but most importantly mayor jerrys love for horses reminds me of blaze manoukian which i love too i love how she likes horses too also jessie but less knowing jerry and blaze are humans and jessie is a toy animal who likes horses not a person.
