finally , coal hues looks back toward the good doctor . there’s a different kind of desperation in them : that of a man who wishes to live . “ i REALLY need yer help .” uttered slowly , deliberately , earnestly . there’s no jesting , no wry grin , or anything of the usual sort . clearly this -- whatever it is -- isn’t something jack finds funny .

there’s a satisfied hum when she sighs ---- a breathy , ragged sound / a terrified sound . then , floret turns to face mad dog , all dark hues and wide grin . “ beginner’s luck . “ phrase said like a warning , before he allows silence to settle betwixt their bodies . then , request is made . immediate response is to move the weapon away from her reach , spin the chamber , and place it to his temple . “ ah ah ah ! “ cold gun metal against skin , FAMILIAR and not at all unnerving . after all , jack has played this game far too many times to lose ; and , besides , he’s well acquainted  with lady luck .... gloved digit comes to rest on the trigger , nestling comfortably into its welcoming embrace  ; he’s done it before ---- far too many instances to keep track . lithe digits , graceful by nature and none at all hesitant , reach toward one side of marred visage . at this brows would furrow in ( momentary ) confusion before something clicks and jack realizes what she’s about to do . fingertips would trace raised scar tissue lightly for but a second before larger hand , calloused and never gentle , snags the woman’s wrist . “ ah ta ta ! “ said as if speaking to a child ---- one about to do something immensely dangerous . “ if y’ so .... -- uh  -- CUR-i-ous ? y’ shoulda just . asked . i’d gladly show y’ how i got ‘em . “
