Last weekend I keynoted my 5th Workshop with XLFL and almost a year point of my XLFL journey. On day 1 of our workshop, we did the ultimate TedTalk presentation. It was a gratifying, yet exciting experience talking to my peers--and judges--about what I learnt in my major. This experience has thought me so much about how to be a good Ted speaker. I learn that in TedTalk people value your opinion because you're the expert. But making a simple, clean speech about what you really expertise in is so challenging. In addition, we only were given the 4minute time to deliver our idea that worth sharing. I also really want to personally thank the special guest that help us evaluate our presentation @nadhirafidelia and @deka.komanda, they gave me a lot to learn with their sharp judgement thourgh-out the day. Day 2 in our fifth workshop we talk a lot about fixed/growth mentality and what a 'team' in reality really is. While discussing fixed and growth mentality characteristics I realized that I'm not a strong growth mentality person (yet) because I still have some of the fixed mentality's mindset, and knowing that I should avoid those traits and try to be a better person with a strong growth mentality. Then we talk about 'team'. A lot of personal experiences about our leadership was shared. Deedee (@softkillsdaily) explanation about how a team works by comparing estafet athletes and big team athletes really got me mirroring myself on how I work as a team all of this time. What highlighted day 2 of our workshop for me is how I rediscovering the meaning of the word 'ambis'. I know and I used to think that 'Ambisius' is actually a very positive trait for a person to have, it's just somehow nowadays 'ambis' became a not-so-great word to label someone. And these past couples of years I was kinda sensitive about the word 'ambis' because somewhat that word kinda linked to me and it was stressing me out. [The Zoom Where It Happens #3] I've read that the mastery path is, to be sure, riddled with difficulties, false-starts, wrong turns, and even catastrophes. Those who strive for mastery must steadily learn from their mistakes. But discovering that I've made a mistake is unpleasant. Honestly? it feels bad. Through this workshop I learn that we only learn from our mistakes if we do something about them, if we actively try to learn from them. This is just one more way that we need to be active agents in life . To learn about our mistakes we did evaluations. These evaluations got me to hear lots of amazing feedback from our great XLFL B1 alumnae Mamet, our dear facil Deedee (@softskilldaily), and our team members. Effective feedback is super important because it helps us understand their strengths, areas that need improvement— all of which affect performance and motivation. And I believe to do things right, people need honest and critical feedback to help them. And then on day two of our 4th workshop we also discuss about leadership style. (such as autocratic, charismatic, transformational, paternalistic, and servant) What’s your leadership style, and how can you adjust it for maximum value? Then during our leadership style presentation preparation I read that "You are not the leader want to be, can be, or should be". I realize that we have strengths, abilities and unique qualities that brought us to this point in our life.
