One of the things that's really been bothering me as I watch The Man in the High Castle is how often it borrows Brutalist architecture to signpost fascism. The Nazi closed Bauhaus! They didn't like functional modernism for their state buildings! They liked kitsch! They liked stripped classicism!
The show lazily borrows from other media without thinking, and it's really starting to piss me off. Look at this building at tell me this is something that the Nazis would have created to represent themselves and project their power in America, giant eagle and swastika aside. It's all so bolted on, and I get that if you're making something like this you have a budget, but come on, work on your establishing shots a little.
