MAIALINO MAGIC

ryan and i went to maialino yesterday for my birthday and it was one of the best italian meals to date in the city. danny meyer is an actual god. I've heard the suckling pig is other worldly but remember to pre-order with you reservation at least 7 days in advance.

unfortunately we didn't make the reservation in time but no fear the MALFATTI is here to save you. Maialino's Malfatti primi pasta dish combines thing egg noodles with left over bits of the suckling pig and crafts the most delicious and sexiest pasta i've ever had. This dish will forever stay in my heart...

Piccolo Angolo is consistently the best Italian in Manhattan. Of course it helps that it’s within 100 yards of my apartment but every time I come here the food is outstanding. The restaurant is pretty small (typical West Village space) but in this case it’s a wonderful thing. You can feel the buzzing energy from the open faced kitchen in this family run ristorante.

Piccolo Angolo’s menu is anything but laconic. The menu is quite large and the specials page contains more entrees than most restaurants in Manhattan. While it’s a bit overwhelming, the good news is you can’t go wrong. Renato is usually there every night to guide you in the right direction and is very direct with his recommendations. Some of the must haves are listed below. Lobster Cannelloni- a house favorite

Mussels Fradiavolo Special Pork Chop w/ Insalata Tricolore – spectacular

Meatball Appetizers- the size of baseballs and fantastic Chocolate Cannoli – I doubt you’ll have room for desert but if by some miracle you’ve created some stomach room… TIPS- Definitely make a reservation and bring me with you!

i travel for work almost every week and i find myself discussing points programs with all my co-workers. frequent flier miles, hotel points, upgrades.. is this what my life is coming to? is one of the goals in my adult life to attain platinum status? i read an article a couple of months ago about hte problems and inconsistencies of what to do with unused points once a person dies. can they be left in a will, transferred or do they die with the individual? trying to dream bigger...

when acts of terrorism occur, such as the bomings at the boston marathon, we all freeze in awe. we become engrossed in the 'why', we count our blessings, we phone our family and we hug everyone a bit tighter. our day to day problems seem to be miniscule as we attempt to rationalize. now, 10 days later the events in copely square seems surreal, intangible and hazy. #bostonstrong
