To do well at something you love is such an amazing feeling! My parents were always my biggest fans when I ran, but I had no idea how much pride and happiness they felt watching me embrace and excel at my passion. Sharing the experience of cheering on Jalen together has given me a chance to see my own running career from their perspectives. Watching my son run is about more than just the sport, it’s a reassurance that this first child of mine will always have a connection to his momma, something to bond us together in a unique way. I get to watch him push himself physically and mentally, and I get to see humility and sportsmanship that demonstrate his good character. This first of many cross country seasons has highlighted that my original baby boy is continuing to grow into an amazing human! 4 weeks. You’ve experienced so many firsts lately! Papaw’s birthday marked your first trip to Dawson Mountain (aka Mamaw and Papaw’s house). Mommy got to enjoy your first social smile and hear your first coos. You had your first trip to the zoo, though you slept through most of it. We all get to enjoy more of your attention as you spend more time awake. I love the way you lock eyes with mine when you’re nursing now. Breastfeeding is going so well at this point, except for the hives mommy keeps getting after feedings. This is such a sweet part of our relationship and bonding together, so we are holding strong despite any challenges we’ve faced! Daddy and I have both noticed how much bigger you’re getting already. You’re starting to develop baby rolls and you feel much more solid when we hold you.
