I thank the girl that had me head over heels, giddy after every conversation, and losing sleep. The one who dragged me out of my darkest month, simply by existing. The one who I would stay out with until 2am, knowing I had to be up for work at 6am. Bottles of wine on leather couches and Harry Potter quizzes in Indian restaurants. Four hour garage conversations and 10 hour coffee dates. Standing in front of that blue door so many times. Seeing you after long workdays, because I was never too tired. It wasn’t you, it was never supposed to be you - but thank you for showing me the feeling that I’m meant to have. A feeling my childhood self wasn’t sure existed. I’m supposed to feel that way and I thank you for being the one who taught me. I know I’m worthy of that now. I’ll never settle for less and she will thank you for showing me.
