So, I'm starting to wonder if my "reference" model isn't perhaps already good enough as an illustration by itself. Still needs a proper paintjob and pose, though.
Also, does this look too beefy for an Avatar-0C?
Finished up the Vulture MK3 to my liking. My initial reaction to a 60t mech with 4 Lrm20s have slightly subsided after I learned the thing only carries 6 volleys for each of them. Clanners still struggling with logistics, apparently.
Lineart done, mech is now a proper Vulture Mk3, a mech I did not know existed because most of my Battletech history knowledge ends with the Clan Invasion. Also, this thing apparently carries 4 Lrm20 launchers (Clantech, what else?), which kinda overshadows even missile boats like the Longbow...I mean, that's basically two Archers in a trenchcoat! Do you really need this many missiles?
Anyways, now I have to decide on a paint scheme. And after that, I still have to tackle the Avatar.
Tried out printing some of my maps for Lancer and run into the problem that my usual 40x40 hex maps work well on a screen, but in order to place proper miniatures I would have to print them extremely big. So I kinda tweaked this testrun for knifefight distance, which works well enough, now my problem is that I have to retool the encounters for rather cuddly-close maneuvers. I'm sure this will do just fine.
Also, now I have to make proper paper tokens for the opfor. Whelp, the work continues...

Kinda forgot about Avorion. Even though I spend quite some time building these thingies in there.
Got a really janky aiming system working. Currently just three LookAt-nodes stacked in a trenchcoat trying to stare down a raycast collider (don't ask what happens when it looks into the sky, there is assuredly not a invisible box around the mech...). I do realize I will have to redo this entirely, but this is what my trial and errors have gotten me for now.
Also, I think sometimes the bullets are too fast for their colliders and pass through them? Will have to test that out. And weapon spread for things like shotguns. Got horizontal spread working but not in a cone pattern.
Oh, and a sideeffect of the whole aiming thing is that the thrusters on the shoulders get affected by it as well. Guess I'll have to stick the forward/backward ones back on the torso.
As said, progress, however bumpy, is still progress.
So, while I have been watching too many Godot tutorials about aiming and weapon firing mechanics, I made a mecha chicken. I mean, this is basically just a turret on legs, this should be easier on me than a fully articulated mech. I hope.
So the whole IK thing in Godot took me some time to implement in a working order. Influence curves are still not optimal and movement looks a bit choppy, but at least the basics are working. Also switched out all the thruster plumes from amount to scale, so the blending between directions look a bit better. May also have to tweak the cloth banners since they behave a bit too floppy while boosting.
Still all very muchly work in progress, but hey, at least there's progress.
Started making some simple tiles in Godot. Not really greyboxing, just getting a feeling how it might look. Still needs more pipes and vents belching stuff into the level and a proper skybox, though.
Also tried out the new IK-stuff for the mech feet to conform to slopes etc. Kinda got it working, but I made the ankle joints too complicated for a simple solution. Guess I need to redo that.

Still tinkering around in Godot while sending out applications. Tried out IK solutions for the feet, but they kinda broke the leg constraints...so I'm gonna ignore that for now. Also found out I may have to redo the player mech to make it move the way I want.
I accidentally an entire mockup. Apparently, I did not get all that Changeling stuff out of my system with just character images. *shrugs*
So, for reasons best left unexplained I was roaming around some really old pictures back home. And I found this thing. Sadly, there is no date on it but I guess it must be from the late 80s or early 90s. Now, it's not exactly a masterpiece, but hopefully one can appreciate the effort little young me put in there. For reference there's also a more current take on Battletech things.
I guess this means I will have to draw a dragon some of these days as comparison in order to show some of the other pictures past me has made.
So yeah, I just had to get this out of my system. Apparently I'm having too much fun with my Changeling group. Anyways, been a lil while since I animated anything by hand.
Anyways, this is our little band of misfits. Still trying to rescue the Queen of Spring while tripping over just about every bit of paranormal happening we can.
Note to self: When you do this sorta thing next time, maybe don't choose a subject where you have to draw animated hands that include mouths...
My rpg sessions and sketch group this week got called off due to various people being sick. Spent the sudden influx of time I had drawing more Changeling things. Also started on some animation ideas, but that'll have to wait.

One down, a couple more to go. Dunno why, simply had the urge to animate the changelings a bit.
Work in progress, more of my Changeling group.
