(  HELLO again! It’s ya girl, Ash, and I’m here to introduce my second muse — AHN JIYEON, Ladybug’s Main Vocal & Face. I’ve linked some helpful pages for those who want to get to know her a little bit, and below the cut are some key points about her life and such if you can’t be bothered to read all the big stuff (though the information below is not brief by any means asdfghjkl). I will also have some quick plot ideas below. “Hey Yunha, do you want to wrap up soon?” Truth be told, Jiyeon’s arms were growing tired even after the occasional switcheroo with which hand held her phone. She didn’t have a proper place to mount it while she went live and she couldn’t be bothered to actually purchase one of those bendy gooseneck phone holders—mostly because she kept forgetting. It would have been a little easier on her had Yunha been in the room as well to take turns with her, but they opted to do a joint Instagram Live broadcast from their own accounts instead to save for any wrong assumptions being made of them being together in private.

( Not that such baseless allegations would hold any real weight, but best to not take any chances. )

“I’m starting to get hungry.” That part was true too, since she couldn’t quite remember how many hours it had been since she last ate anything.  She and Yunha had plans to grab dinner together after their broadcast, thankfully—Jiyeon had been looking forward to the occasion that whole day.

Danny groans and scrambles for his cellphone, ducking down behind the stool just as one of the glass covers falls to the ground and shatters. “Uh oh, that’s not good…” he mutters over his brother’s heckling. Oh, yeah, that was so amazing. You should do it again - “Shut up, shut up, shut up! I, uh, gotta go… Tell mom and dad I’m eating and sleeping and whatever, bye.” Danny ends the call with a sigh. He’s not sure what he should be more worried about. The broken glass or the thumping coming from downstairs… ( how many noise complaints were considered too many noise complaints, again? )

“Mom, I just saw you less than two weeks ago – are you missing me that much already?” Jiyeon’s eyebrows were raised as she studied her mother’s pained expression on the screen of her phone. Despite having a busier day than usual, the vocalist made it a point to FaceTime her mother—same day, same time, on the dot, weekly. The scoff that came through the other line was enough to make Jiyeon erupt with laughter, falling back onto the pillows neatly stacked at the head of her bed. ‘I miss you all the time, Jiyeon. That’s not going to change no matter how much you video call me.’

Before Jiyeon could start her response of, I miss you too, mom, there was an unbelievably loud crashing noise from upstairs. Jiyeon shot upward, dropping her phone onto the bed in the process, as she stared up at the ceiling, completely aghast.

‘What was that?’ Jiyeon was too busy cursing BLUE.M’s name to whatever gods were out there to respond to her mother’s panicked query. ‘Honey!’

“Mom, I’m going to have to call you back—I’m sorry! I love you! I promise I’ll call back!” Her words were rushed as she scrambled to tap the end call button on her phone screen, pulling herself up to a standing position on her bed and banging on the ceiling in the same beat. Sometimes she wasn’t sure just exactly what she was thinking when she decided to move in to the apartment directly beneath that of Yuseong’s newest boy group.

 “Uhm. I won’t take up much of your time. Dad…” Jiah had to stop and let out a heavy breath. “Got into trouble with a loan shark again. And I can’t pay it off by myself. It’s… too much. I hate to ask for help, it’s not really your problem, and I promise I can pay you back. But if you think you could maybe… help… I would be really grateful.”

“Ah, yeah,” Jiyeon breathed, pursing her lips as she reached a hand behind her head to release her ponytail, dark strands falling to frame her face and drape along her shoulders. “Wouldn’t be surprised if I’ve spent more time in these rooms than anywhere else over the past decade. Not sure if that’s a thing to regret or be happy about, though.” Offering a shrug and a light chuckle, it would probably be apparent to the younger that she was feeling just as awkward with the small talk.

Her fingers slid into the pockets of her hoodie as Jiah spoke, gaze fixed on her sister’s, though her focus was somewhere completely different. Jiyeon’s initial reaction during the explanation was to crack a small smile, nearly laughing a little, but not at Jiah’s expense—she just wasn’t very surprised that their father was in financial need. Again.

She shifted her weight to her other leg, pulling a hand from her hoodie pocket momentarily to tuck her hair behind her ear.

“hi jiyeon unnie, i’m alice!” she greeted with a polite bow, just as she’d been taught by far too many hours of manners training. she also happened to wave brightly with both hands, an awkward motion that she regretted, viewing it as less polite, but she’d already started. might as well commit. “i’m from select, and i’m a big fan of you! and ladybug, of course! so i just wanted to greet you and wish you well today, i’m really looking forward to ladybug’s stage!”

Jiyeon was no stranger to the year-end Gayo performances. They were one of the many things idols had to look forward to throughout the year—plus, it was a chance to see fellow idols that it would otherwise be difficult to match schedules with.

When she saw a the younger approach her, a smile spread across her face, offering a bow herself. Though she hadn’t paid too much attention to everything happening surrounding Select!, she did recognize Alice as one of the more memorable contestants: a very strong vocalist and someone who seemed pretty comfortable in front of a camera. And now that she was seeing her in person, another thought struck her: did she know her from somewhere else?

There was a certain fan that attended countless fansign events for Ladybug over the years that Jiyeon could never forget, and somehow, Alice reminded her of them. But it couldn’t be the same fan, right? She only had a few moments to ponder the thought, and ultimately decided she’d better spare herself the [likely] potential embarrassment of being wrong.

“Aww, thank you! It’s so nice to meet you, Alice!” Her hands raised and clutched at her chest for a moment. “I hope we don’t disappoint!”

   As soon as the small squeak came from the door opening, Minhee started to beam as she quickly made her way towards you. She hadn’t yet clued in that the music was coming from her phone, giving her the ability to turn the volume down, or you know, turn it off completely. Instead she yelled over the loud background music. “Ah, how did you hear my desperate plea for love and affection? It’s like we were meant to be! Have you ever heard of anything more romantic?”

Minhee’s words earned a genuine chuckle out of Jiyeon. Slipping through the door and closing it, she stepped closer to Minhee and gently took her hands, spinning the pair in a few circles, supplementing with a few more seconds of laughter. She, too, raised her voice to make it easy for Minhee to hear her. That music would definitely need to be turned off—or at the very least, turned down—but Jiyeon didn’t mind waiting a bit longer for that. “I think our love story would be one written in fairy tales for future generations!”

Jiyeon had been rooting for Minhee since the very first broadcast of Select!. In many ways, she reminded Jiyeon of her younger self: outgoing, charismatic, full of energy. It went without saying that Minhee was probably her favorite of the former members of G.NI—besides, it would probably be in her best interest not to broadcast that fact to the public’s ears.

it was a big building, she was admittedly impressed as she walked in and admired the holiday decorations that adorned the seemingly expensive furniture throughout the lobby and cafe, and followed jiyeon’s instructions to find the practice room she was waiting in.

after accidentally interrupting several other practices, she finally found the right one and peeked her head in, tugging her mask down when she saw her sister.

“hello.”

When Jiah had initially contacted Jiyeon, she couldn’t deny the fact that she was surprised—even a little confused. It was rare for the younger of the Ahn siblings to be in contact, but Jiyeon didn’t actually mind. Despite the fact that their interactions weren’t exactly smooth sailing, Jiyeon was still thankful to see her sister face-to-face rather than through a screen.

She had a few different guesses for why Jiah wanted a brief visit, though it was safe to assume it was probably having to do with their father in some capacity. She loved her father as much as any girl should, but it wasn’t a secret to their family that he put himself in financial ruin time and time again.

Once it was time for a short break between their Gayo practices, the other girls shuffled out of the practice room but Jiyeon stayed behind. She took a few minutes to catch up on her mobile notifications until she heard the practice room door open, Jiah’s head being the one that popped through the opening.

✉ — “Do I need to start crying to get some attention around here?”

Jiyeon was headed out of the Wishbone building after a visit and some meetings. She was eager to get back to her apartment and have some time to relax by herself—it’d be the earliest she arrived at home for the night in quite a while, which was a rarity even outside of promotional periods. As she rounded a corner and started to walk past some of the practice rooms she stopped dead in her tracks.

The desperate-sounding words from one of the rooms were loud enough for Jiyeon to hear from the hallway—opportune timing at its best, she supposed. She took a few steps backward and peaked through the window of the door of the room she assumed the noise came from. Minhee was in the room by herself, which made Jiyeon cock a brow. Although Jiyeon did want to head home, she liked Minhee a lot, and it would be pretty rude to hear a desperate call for attention and ignore it. She knew if it were her in the same position she’d be upset.

she listens to her former groupmate speak, head nodding ever so slightly as she holds her coffee cup in both hands. it always felt like a weight lifted from her shoulders when jiyeon was around, and it would be a lie if haeun said she didn’t miss being available to one another like before. they still tried, and that’s all that matters “yeah, at least i’m not alone.” she replies, smile pulling on her lips wider than before. “we might potentially overlap activities. i’ve heard some plans about my next comeback soon.”

“I guess I could have spared the crying, but I couldn’t help myself, I guess.” Her lips pulled into a slight pout for a second before she offered a bit of laughter, fingers removing themselves momentarily from her coffee cup. Reaching up at her eyes, she lightly patted the ends of her sleeves to soak up the small amount of moisture that had accumulated.

“And you better believe that I’ll send double the amount of whatever you send me! You’re too kind.” The corners of her lips pulled into a smile, shaking her head a bit at the thought. “You really don’t have to get me anything though...I mean it!” She knew there was no use in trying to get Haeun to change her mind once it was made, though—the gifts were something she was known for and one of the million things Jiyeon loved and appreciated about her.
