imagine that Sonny's father is a gloomy, eternally dissatisfied and rather strict nobleman who scares the whole Greenhorne and contradicts absolutely everyone who disagrees with him.

he treats Mayor Dudley very contemptuously, quietly judging his personality, very much judging King Reggie's gluttony and Queen Ann's arrogant nature.

despite his strict and difficult nature, he treats his son Sonny well and he wants his boy to grow up to be a real man. this is why Sonny even being very weak is pretty brave.

Cedric strongly condemns Ann's attempts to interact with the King because he thinks she wants to marry him for her own dark purposes.

although, he scares King Reggie with his nature, because for such a gentle king, the presence of a strict person condemning him is not comfortable for him.

and often tells Mayor Dudley where and how he did wrong, but it's more in helping manner, even thought it's looks rude.
