Sweaty bodies and pulsing eardrums were the least of Arien’s worries this night. Arien Jinaka was far more focused on crafting a smooth and successful deal with this next buyer. Each buyer’s interest could certainly be won. Whether it be the process of haggle, a test of charm, or simply knowing what deal to make. It was likely, given their territory, that a few bodies heating up this space’s air were pulsed with his own creations. Not limited to the Norms, the Mysti were well affected by Jinaka brand “Brews.” “Potions,” many people called them. On this side of town, the people knew ‘potions’ referred to that specific experience to shift a mind if only for a moment. An elixir of mental concentrate that once ingested gifted it’s user with unadulterated central emotion. Of course, only limited by-

You know, that was neither here nor there. The point is Jinaka had made a name for himself around these parts. The modern world grew neon and tasteful while simultaneously adopting an emotionless brand and sensual scent of life. Robotics dictated each walk and sexual prowess grew the underground scene with a fervor. Genderless fashion glittered like Arien’s own symbol gloves. He felt like he could breathe better down here than above the so-called surface.

He had passed the bar scanner with an arm held out. The bot standing guard scanned his ID code tattoo and mere seconds later his typical drink of choice was ready for him at the end of the bar. The couches in the back corner beckoned- as did a familiar face. He couldn’t help himself, the anomalous yet extroverted bastard, but grin widely. His pretty features lit up as did his glittering eyeshadow in the light flash. “Hello there, beautiful. I might take a guess as to why you are here. I’d give you a little kiss but I’m here on business.”

He sat, unceremoniously, and eyed the pulsating LED dots that decorated the walls with pre-set designs. He handed a small blue bottle over to the other warm body now pressed thigh to thigh.

Humans have such drastic change of emotions in such short time. Fascinating. This bushy haired male human was so happy moments ago and now he’s throwing a fit over some female he was interested in. But Jinaka understood. Emotions are fluid and often uncontrollable other than by some chemical intervention. It worked a lot like that with fantastical creatures too, but instead of chemical means, magic became involved.

Jinaka, the ever oddball, self-titled scholar, stranger conversation delving mirrorwalker had made himself home at a local bar for the last hour. Mostly watching, as he does, but the occasional bar-side neighbor would happen to rouse his attention. He was three drinks in but since alcohol does very little, he had partaken his own ‘bliss’ potion to ease any previous unease. Handing the bar’s cocktail menu to the man who had just sat beside (given he didn’t need it anymore), Jin grinned a pretty smile at the handsome face. “Hey there. Well, you’re certainly not human. From Insolitus I’m guessi- wait, don’t I know…”

Jinaka paused, raising an eyebrow. “I’ve sold potions to you before, haven’t I? Must have been going through a tough time, then.” His face fell to a somewhat solemn one. Perhaps a bit too forward, the mirrowalker wasn’t fully used to ‘manners’ in the way humanity knew it despite his age. “Can I buy you a drink?” And maybe sell you a potion? He mirrored the thought, holding back saying it aloud. For now. Besides, meeting a familiar face was always more interesting than a simple sale.

Last day, indeed! Leave it to me to have like the best pace at the beginning and then procrastination settles in until the very end where I gotta rush -.- Honestly, I really liked this a lot! My posts all seem a bit long and dramatic and repetitive, but it did open my eyes to where and how I can help Jin develop. Plus I got to see my new character come to life in a really fun way. I'm so used to making characters within a day or two, small details piling on quickly, so it was a neat change to do this over a longer time. 

Again, I feel bad for procrastinating cause it probably seems like I didn't enjoy this whole thing, but it's quite the opposite. I am most excited to have Yasu finally meet everyone. I feel like I didn't put it on paper quite well enough just how his personality is. Plus with his brother and Idril and Uruha, it'll be super awesome to guage personality and watch these new faces interact!

Day 34  | PRIMUS CHALLENGE

Your Old Friend has been, hopefully, revived and you have more inspiration to roleplay them. Have you thought about doing an AU? Doing an Alternate Universe plot can really spice things up. How about a Pokemon AU, Harry Potter AU, Medieval AU or Crime AU? Too mainstream for you? Think of the possibilities of an “Archeologist finds cursed mummy and now this mummy is following me” AU or perhaps “You moved in next to me and you keep turning up the sound too much, I complain but oh no you have hearing problems and oh no you are cute” AU?

I actually haven’t considered any AU’s for Jinaka, yet, but now I’m super interested! I feel like a superhero school (i.e, My Hero Academia) AU would be lots of fun, especially to use it as an excuse to flex my creative skills. But maybe blame that on my anime binge lately. Any sort of general life AU would be fun to play around with, since Jinaka’s character is so uniquely ‘fantasy.’ What would he be like in real life? Any different? Most definitely.

Day 33 | PRIMUS CHALLENGE

Your New Friend also needs some negative things, next to their traits it is good to think of what they suck at. Maybe they are horrible at maths? Or perhaps they are very slow. Think of their weaknesses? Are you roleplaying a vampire sunlight and holy items might be obvious but what about entering a home? Do you use that lore or not? How about a werewolf- are they weak to silver? Your totally human character? Peanut allergy? Emotionally unavailable?

Well, for starters, he’s not very studious. He may be curious but that doesn’t mean he’s very good at retaining things especially on a school-based technical/educational level. Obviously he’s weak to very high or very cold temperatures, like most/all waterspirits. Water and oil don’t mix, so when and if he eats, he avoids fried foods or anything heavy on oil. It among other things makes him sick. You know how hard it is to clean dirty water? You gotta send it through filters and fill it with chemicals, so I picture Yasu staying sick for a long time when he does get sick.

Day 32  | PRIMUS CHALLENGE

Your New Friend needs some skills. What are they good at, what can do they really, really well? Think of activities and hobbies (include that one we thought of earlier) and maybe just random skills like cooking or cleaning, running really fast or if it is a supernatural creature maybe forms of magic or other other-worldly skills. Make sure not to overpower your character, because 9 out of 10 times it is no fun to write with a character that is too strong.

Yasu will obviously have skills with water given his race. I have given specifics to those abilities thought, trying to match the ability to the personality, but nothing has been set in stone quite yet. Like I mentioned before, Yasu is intruiged by the human body and has an interest in anatomy. His “hobby” of massage is new, practiced very little. I guess I could say Yasu is really good at reading body language thanks to this, though?

Your Old Friend can take a day off: let’s talk about you. What is your favorite RP memory ever? How about your worst? How long have you been roleplaying and what made you continue (or come back)?

Oh goodness, well.. 

I have a few memories of some IA muns talking on tinychat, when that was a thing. I remember the first time I got very very drunk being very very much in the public eye- that eye being you guys, haha. I joined IA in early 2013 (?) so I would have been 17 at that time. (the drunk thing wasn’t till I was 18 btw and I was home o_o). I created a muse near and dear to my heart, my android N, and there are many plots that stand out to me that really built upon his character and helped him grow before he was uploaded into the Unilib.  -Talking about life with Youngmin while they played DS in the secret library room. -Becoming friends with angel Yoonji, discussing spirituality -Falling in love for the first time with his complete opposite, nightelf Melyria

My favorite thing I have written in all of IA is between two self paras. 1: N’s artistic mind meltdown while he dances, based on one of Cha Hakyeon’s performances. Really fun to explore that part of him to the timing of the music. 2: N’s last moments, realizing his dream being possible despite his body’s ultimate decay, and how much he had changed thanks to everyone he had come to know and love.  I might have to make it a three-way tie for the absolute destructive para I concoted following VIXX’s “Hyde” comeback. It hurt to put him through so much, but it only made sense given the circumstance.

As for worst experience, nothing anyone else did has been bad enough for me to remember- but I still feel guilt for leaving when and how I did the second time around. Anxiety is a bitch.

I came back because I remembered how amazing everyone always was here, and I missed having that sense of community. Also having an artistic venting system. I truly love playing out these characters who each have a part of me in them.

Day 29  | PRIMUS CHALLENGE

Your Old Friend is sure feeling a lot better now with everything that you did for them! I think they need something though… Find someone you haven’t interacted with (muse wise or munwise) and ask for a plot, offer those plot bunnies you made earlier or look at their wanted plots! Nothing is as exciting as making new connections with characters you haven’t written with before! Go forth!

I would love to ask (and I’ll tag them here) @jinki-ia and @minsu-ia for a plot with Jin! I want to have Jin and Minsu continue their friendship and as roommates it only makes sense. I really want to do a plot with Jinki, and since Jinaka needs some friends, maybe these two ‘jin’ brothers could go on an adventure of some sort? I’ll also tag @uruha-ia because even if we don’t start a new plot, I’ll happily take that open plot!

Day 28  | PRIMUS CHALLENGE

Your New Friend has a backstory and from that we can continue with their personality! We have 2 personality traits, now make it six! Add 2 more positive and 2 more negative ones. Start with writing the personality description. Limit yourself to 2 paragraphs and write at least one!

Personality description:  As the ‘calm waters’ between him and his brother, Yasu is an even mixture of incredibly patient and inviting. He’s got his own issues, too. Like stagnant water being easier to contaminate, I imagine his ego and feelings can be hurt easier, and anxiety settles quicker. But that doesn’t stop him from being an interesting and interested person by all means. He’s friendly and fun-loving. The man is unique in that he speaks in an eloquent manner, but his mind is anything but.

Yasu doesn’t bite as hard as his brother unless his ideals are tempted. His happy-go-lucky nature is pushed outward among other people, and he often shows this with his brother. Yasu likes attention and though he’s not the kind of person to start drama for it, he’ll lap it all up. Truly, the man has an inflated ego. Not obsessed or mental about it, but he’s proud of who he is and isn’t afraid to show it. It’s not a god-complex, but Yasu sees himself as higher than most people on many fronts (though he ignorantly has no backing reason for this). He’s not stuck up, but doesn’t like giving up too much in life.

So, Jin has my favorite theme! I mean despite the limited plots and interaction with him, his theme just turned out really lovely and it fits his whole aesthetic so well. I’m proud of it and currently have nothing I want to change. I might update the plot page to look all fancy, but in all honesty I need to update everyone’s plot pages. If anything, Jinwoo and Junseong need something more exciting.
