“Next time you’re right about something, try not to throw it in someone’s face. They might be a bit more apt to agree with you,” he said, his tone missing joking as he intended and fell more toward biting. “I’m sorry. I’m just too stubborn for my own good, sometimes.” He added finally sounding as sincere as he wanted, and turned to face her.

Jim looked back out to the stars before meeting her gaze again hoping they’d have an answer for him. If he wanted to be a captain, he was going to start having to act like one. Stress or not, it didn’t matter. The chair came first. And his crew was part of that. He couldn’t be freaking out at them every second he was in a precarious situation.

Except, she realized, he had never said where they were getting together. She decided it must be the wreck hall after some thought; she didn’t think he’d have a get together in his quarters and she wasn’t aware of anywhere else on board they could have a get together.

The stories continued and Jim found himself growing disappointed. Maybe she didn’t want to come, that’s why she wasn’t here yet. He pushed the thought from his head, not wanting it to be truth.
