I love tutoring kids in math (particularly polynomials and radicals) and watching their faces as they slowly realize that math is just a ouroboros of the same variables, concepts, and theorems repeated over and over and over again into its very highest levels.
And then I have to remind them that memorizing multiplication tables is very important because it’ll make their lives so much easier and that 11x11 is not 111 but is in fact 121. A kid I tutored got 100 on his math 10C final exam and his mom baked me cookies. Math is great.
