ngl kinda hate that "this has been discussed extensively you're just 21" tweet cos it was directed at a trans woman who was getting dogpiled for saying that the "dangerous man in a dress" horror trope is shitty
she was born in 2005, the right wing culture war against trans people has been going on for half her life, if she independently arrives at a correct take then how is that something worth mocking?? you got flowers sprouting through concrete, water them dumbass
my dipshit six year old: if the earth is round how come we don't fall off??
me: lol we learned that in science class 20 years ago 🤣 prick
infinite strangers online: okay this is an all time dunk
meanwhile outsider learning about oppression that they benefit from: aww xkcd first 10000 meme
ngl i think she was also saying something more interesting when she said that there was no cultural reckoning for said trope. nobody really punishes transphobia socially. there's also no spate of critically acclaimed movies inverting or meaningfully engaging with the valence of said representations. we have cycled through years in the mainstream with movies of cis women as girlbosses and murderers, which are the cultural reckoning for years of feminist criticism of sexist tropes about non agentic and fridged women.
seems to me that some trans people took a kind of personal offense to "we never really reconciled" by reading it as reflective of an erasure of the critical tension with and recuperation of those facets of genre history. (nobody loves sleepaway camp like us, e.g.) which to some degree – not one that social media pile-ons ever reflect – is understandable, but i think the defensiveness against supposedly unmediated concerns with cultural throughlines is itself revealing. like, okay, corpses, fools and monsters is readily available to read, that's great.... and? perhaps a cinephilic network that widely touted a film like under the skin as "speaking to us" still has less to work with than we'd like to admit

theyre literally so fucking cute. what the hell. who allowed them to be this cute.
a convo in the replies of a post where one of them is hidden because i blocked them and the other one makes a comment that i cant possibly understand due to how out of context it is is funny to me every single time

transphobic music fans be listening to he or she might be giants
This is literally how the shadow girls talk in utena
been thinking about the beldaruit-qifrey-coco mentorship dynamic lately and having some real sicko* feelings about it which i am too lazy to type up in full right now but one specific thing i keep sticking on that qifrey in a lot of ways was probably beldaruit's Nightmare Scenario apprentice. because we know with his condition, beldaruit can not actually easily traverse the great hall in his chair, and so it just must be so so miserable to be responsible for this incredibly vulnerable child whose only real hobby for awhile seems to be borderline suicidally reckless attempts to flee your care when you have to spend most of your time stuck in one place. and in a similar way coco is also equally qifrey's nightmare apprentice because with his condition it must be so so miserable for him to be responsible for this incredibly vulnerable child whose borderline suicidally reckless tendencies come out when she's trying to save other people. including him. and when he gives her the option to choose between safety and answers, the two things he's been trying to get for himself for his entire life, she decides she doesn't care about either of those things as much as she cares about him being okay. awesome stuff.
anyway you know what else is awesome. the bit where coco threatens to blackmail beldaruit
look at her they grow up so fast... she's so talented... wow.
It's been said that during the set up time for a live concert in 1972, fans saw a mysterious glow eminate from behind the curtains of the stage. Some fans speculate this may have been Ringo Starr "activating" his Elf Stones, which are powerful magical artifacts awarded to him by elves.
it's working keep going
they're lying to us and claiming that ringo's only magic item is the st christopher medal. they don't want us to know about the elf stones
seemed very fed up when i tried it
Top answer: Wat

“this artist is promoting OBESITY” damn i kinda don’t care
if someone is inspired to become fat because of a drawing, that is literally their own prerogative. why does it affect you personally how other people look
nobody can make art anymore because of the non zero chance that a piece of artwork could inspire them to make a decision about their personal life or their body that you don’t like that much
