“No wonder why we’re getting along so well. Great minds think alike.” The blonde smiled. “Yeah, it is nice to make some extra cash. Plus, the regulars I have…they’re great. I miss them every summer when I leave. They became my second family. And boyfriend? Eh. It’s kinda complicated.”

“i definitely recommend doing something with your time off. if you don’t, you just might go crazy here. relaxing is cool, but you can only relax so much before you wanna..do something. gotta take advantage of the time off! and exactly. i always tell myself that. i’m a firm believer in doing what makes you happy, because life is too short not to.”

“Smart, smart. I still live with my parents, because I’m hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loan debt, so I’ll take my basement suite any day as long as they keep it rent free.” Emmy laughed. “Always the charmer, Jey. Life’s been…life. Just rolling with what it throws at me. How have you been?”

“Back where I went to college, my apartment had the best view of the town. It’s great, isn’t it? I loved waking up early and drink a cup of coffee while watching the sunrise. It was the best thing ever.” Hunter smiled, thinking about her college days. “I’m not just a bartender - the reason I disappear in the summer is because I switch to park ranger mode. I love it. I usually travel out of state for it, but I decided this summer to stick to New Jersey so I could still spend time in Springhill.” She explained. Not many people knew about her other job - they just assumed she didn’t work during the summer at the bar and that was it. “Time to relax! You gotta enjoy the time off.”

“I wish I had that balcony view - although, I do know all the good spots in Springhill to watch the sunrise or sunset.” Hunter said with a smile. “Me? Oh you know. Same old, same old. Getting ready to switch jobs, which is always fun. Sitting on the other side of the bar always feels weird, but sometimes I look forward to just being a guest at Cloak & Stagger rather than an employee. What about you, hmm?”

“Sounds about how my days in med school started in the city. …except I lived in Harlem and could probably see more of Springhill than I could have of Manhattan from my balcony.” Emmy smiled. “It’s going. Can’t complain.”
