Captain Onishima ...

He's definitely funny in concept, very blatantly a parody of a very specific kind of 70s policeman. Smells like cigars and alcohol. And with that specific kind of greased hairstyle, perhaps he is still holding onto his own secret delinquent past. 🤔

Ultimately, he isn't as prominent as you might expect him to be—the police chief that chases the Rudies, shooting them with rubber bullets.. He should be more important to the plot, right? But I think that's for a good reason.

Onishima is a joke on purpose because he's not the real threat.

Yeah, he's crazy . The things he sends after street vandals escalates to insane heights throughout the game. Police dogs? Tear gas?? Helicopters and tanks???? It's over the top. It's laughable.

And yet, we never meet face-to-face with Goji Rokkaku, the CEO behind the Rokkaku Group, the one who funded the police to crack down on the street vandals to begin with... until it's already too late.

Onishima is just a pawn in the grand scheme of things.

A distraction, if you will, from the thing you actually need to be worried about.

And maybe, in a strange, roundabout kinda way... The Rudies distract Onishima as well?

I think she's from Shibuya, she has that vibe to me. her outfit screams "city of the daylight" :)

A lot of her dialogues read to me as passive and laid-back (despite other characters describing her as "lightning-quick"). She seems calm and level-headed, even when faced with the weirdness and chaos that comes with living in Tokyo-to.

Kind of a rock for the rest of the gang.. Even for Corn, who's usually the one stuck giving advice and guidance.

She seems kind, caring and forgiving too (given how she interacts with Garam and Clutch).. and apparently she likes spicy food :) cute!!

Garam is a funny guy!

If Poison Jam are meant to represent Godzilla, then Garam is their Mothra. Kogane born and raised, Garam strikes me as someone who ALSO enjoys quite a few monster movies and bases his personality around it.

As for what he does when he isn't on skates, I think it'd be fitting if he was a prop-maker. The kinds of things you'd see in cosplay. A hands-on, different kind of art, one he monetizes. His work art, if you will; compared to his graffiti, which is his personal art.

He strikes me as the type to often search for mental stimulation, which ultimately leads him to picking fights and starting arguments with the others over little, inconsequential shit (battle of the wits, you see). He nitpicks for fun.

I also think he and Yoyo are tight :)

I think he works/worked as a mechanic when he isn't on skates—the jumpsuit, good with machines, described as a "genius"—and I think he's so good at the job that he's often placed in leadership positions. He never volunteers to be the leader, but he does it easily. Which is why he's kind of the one ultimately in charge of the GGs; others turn to him for support and advice, and he gives it because he can. I also think he's the one who mods the skates for others >w<

His full name is Cornelius, but he hates being called that.

He tried to get it shortened to "Neil" for a while, but once someone started calling him "Corn" instead, it was too late. He wears that nickname with pride now >:) 🌽

He struggles with finding how he exactly wants others to perceive him, to the point where he asked Mew to help him dye his hair (that's another avenue for self-expression, right?)
