Jessica the Witch

“Or maybe you really just need someone to fuck you and take your mind off of her.” Jaq shrugged, unsure of what else she could do for the other. “Where do you work?”

“Maybe that’s an option on what I can do, I’ll keep my eyes out for somebody.”Jessica replied looking over at her. “I work at The Painted Lady as a tattoo artist,I get to do what I love,make art.”

“Maybe you need a better girlfriend.” Jaq sipped at her drink, her eyes looking mischievous as she looked at the other. She didn’t want to say exactly why she was toasting to hell. Talking about her dead best friend would kill the mood, and it wasn’t the first time she’d lost someone in her life. Three hundred years and it still hurt like a stab wound each time.

Cassandra was feeling low. The mood of the town seemed to weigh heavier on her shoulders than it normally did, and she couldn’t work out why. She wasn’t prophetic by any means, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was brewing. Then again, in Cresthill, it was always brewing. Regardless, she tried to push the thoughts aside and continue on with her errands for the day, pausing by the local bakery to have her usual mental debate with herself about whether or not she should purchase a pastry. “If you had to pick, almond croissant, or apple danish. You know, asking for a friend.”

Normally they would send the secretary or one of the new staff to grab stuff for lunch, but since Jessica wasn’t busy, she went off. The brunette had a list of what everybody wanted and was looking over it when she heard the voice next to her speaking. “If I had to pick, I would go with apple danish, there’s something about them that is just so nice and filling. That and I’m not too fond of almonds”

He picked up the GPS carefully, getting up, cleaning his clothes with his free hand while stretching the object in the woman’s direction “It’s a GPS, it was under my car and I have no idea who may have put it there. Or why they want to track me. With everything going on in the city it’s best not to risk it right?”

The expression on his face was serious, the back ached and the head throbbed with pain, that migraine never seemed to go away, signs of tension. He was stressed and worried lately, believed that someone was following him. With everything that was going on in Cresthill it was common for people to be a little paranoid, distrusting everything and everyone around, but that was no coincidence. Whenever they were in traffic  saw the same car taking the same route as them, changed the path a few times but it was still there. A blue Sedan. It knew exactly what times he was out, and never took long for it to appear, as if it knew exactly where he would be. Javier had almost managed to catch the driver once, but it escaped, making a small detour. He didn’t know what the reasons would be for someone to follow him, but he usually expected the worst. He bent down, black clothes touching the ground, while touching the bottom of the vehicle, the black gloves getting dirty and finding a small GPS there, a playful smile on his lips “Got you son of a bitch”

The town was always full of strange things and with the news about there being a cult flowed through the town,Jessica was less and less surprised about anything that was going on. She was making her way to her place when she noticed the stranger on his hands and knees looking underneath the car he was near. She tilted her head while she watched him before hearing the last thing that he said. “Got what? Sorry for asking, you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.”

The vampire never expected many women to come to Neon Angels. Of course they had male strippers, but unless it was a bachelorette party, most women didn’t come to watch. Jaq spun her glass on the counter as though she was stirring the dark brown liquid. “Fuck this town.” She tapped her glass on the other’s before taking a long, drawn out sip.

Jacqueline had heard about the people who had died. There were more than just the five, but the Atwoods and the hunter seemed to be forgotten in the wake of the cult? Was it a cult? She didn’t want to believe it, but she did, at least a little bit. In the wake of it all, she escaped to the one place she knew she could be safe. Neon Angel. Her best friend had died. The owner of the club. Jaq had promised that if Bandit ever passed, she’d take over the club, but so soon? She danced the night away, not even caring about the money she was being tipped. 

Hours had passed, and she was finally ushered off of the stage by another dancer. Jacqueline was sat at the bar, and she ordered two drinks, one for her, and one for the person next to her. “To hell!”

She had been out with friends from work,she didn’t think that it would be good after what happened, but her co-worker wasn’t taking no for an answer. Jessica sighed as she stayed at the bar most of the night while her co-workers had their fun. She didn’t want to seem like a wet blanket but she had started conversing with the bartender any time they came over to her. 

She had just ordered herself another drink when she heard the voice next to her,causing her to jump. “Wow you seem very enthusiastic about that.”She said still shocked by the statement coming from her. “Uh to hell”

Wynter handed the notebook back over to it’s owner, smiling softly. “Well, glad to have helped,” she told her. “I know how inconvenient and upsetting it can be to lose things that are important to you,” she said. Wynter had left behind the necklace her surrogate father had given her just before his death, when she and Daisy had escaped the frollick.

Jessica was happy to get her notebook back, not only did she have some of her own notes and sketches in there but had some tattoo ideas she was sketching up for clients. “Glad to know that we are in the same boat,I would have some people angry at me if I lost some of the things in there. Can I repay you for finding it? I mean it’s only fair that I do.”

Zachary used his foot to kick at the ground beneath him for a moment, his head lifting as he heard the other start to talk. “Pretty annoying, right?” He offered, though didn’t want to prompt too much conversation if she wanted to be alone. Not many people went down to the lake for some conversation, that he knew for certain. “If you want to sit you’re welcome to. I have a spare seat. Saves getting your clothes on the dirt or sand, and I promise, you don’t have to talk to me if you don’t want.”

Adjusting to life outside of the frollick was hard enough ( despite it turning into a toxic, and dangerous enviroment for her ), but adjusting to being a vampire was a whole other thing. Yes, it had been her choice; so concerned for her safety of the fae she had escaped with Daisy’s help, the only way she’d seen herself safe was to be a creature stronger than a human, someone they couldn’t hurt so easily. Plus, there was the whole being told she was someone else for twenty years of her life, only to find out she was someone entirely different about six months ago. Honestly, it was all just a whole lot. She’d grown up Calliope Yew, ( named because she’d slept under a yew tree for the first ten years of her life ), but had discovered her birth name was actually Wynter Ackerman, and she had a family. Alive.

Of coursee, she had no idea who they were or how to approach the situation. As she walked she tripped over something on the ground. Luckily, she had new reflexes to counteract colliding with the ground. She bent over, picking up the item she’d tripped over and looked around. “Did anyone drop this?” she called out.

Zachary had popped out the stairs to his van, using it as a stool as he thought about a lot of things that had gone on recently, his van parked down by Echo Lake still. He had been fine as an Omega, sworn that he wasn’t going to be joining any packs after what had happened, and yet here he was, contemplating Bandit’s offer to live on their driveway, just days after telling Franklin he’d be on side. He wasn’t sure if he was even himself any more, and yet, he hadn’t felt more part of a family for a long time. “Life can just be so damned complicated.”

Jessica had been thinking about everything going on in town,she needed some time away and decided on heading to Echo Lake for a bit just to clear her head. She had walked for a while when she looked over and noticed the van not too far from her. She didn’t want to disturb whoever was there but she couldn’t help but overhear somebody speaking as she passed by it. “Only if you let it be, but sadly I agree it can be quite complicated at times.”She said unable to stop herself from talking to him. 

“Plus, I don’t have a first aid kit to save you.” Wyatt’s smile brightened, running a hand through the curls on his head. “I’ve heard ‘I’m Thinking of Ending Things’ is pretty good.” That’s the only movie that he knew was out, and he wasn’t even sure if it was considered horror or not.

He didn’t recognize her at first, he probably saw her around town but didn’t remember her name, and he liked to know who he was talking to “Perfect. I’m Balthazar Windham, thanks for your help, insert your name here” he joked

Jessica couldn’t help but laugh before she spoke up. “Insert your name here does sound like a good name however it isn’t mine.” She joked. “It’s Jessica Varley or Jess if you want,I’m fine with either” 

“Maybe you should be grateful that this accident wasn’t more serious.” Wyatt said with a chuckle. “What movie are you going to see? I’ve heard everything in theaters right now is kind of terrible.”

“I think you are a lucky girl” he said, referring to the fact that she lived next to a grocery store, that certainly saved her a lot of time “Sure. I don’t want to disturb you, so you can point where is it and i can find it”

“I wouldn’t say that, I think of it more of convenience than lucky if I am being honest.”She admitted as she ran her hands through her hair. “Oh you won’t be disturbing me at all. I know what I need so I can grab them as soon as I finish helping you out.” 

Balthazar blew out a breath, looking at the woman “There are so many shelves with so many things that sometimes I get lost. In fact, I don’t usually come here” being a vampire, human food didn’t satisfy him so there wasn’t much to do in places like that

“Really? I come here quite a lot, they do my favourite snacks plus it’s not too far from my place. I could help you pick out the things that you need if you like”

“Okay, phew, good.” Wyatt adjusted his bag over his shoulder. “So who was so important that you almost knocked me over?” He gestured to the phone she had in her hand.

“My friend,we are supposed to be going to see a movie once I was finished with work. I think I’ll blame both myself and her for the whole thing.” She said as she placed her phone back into her bag.
