House, in oils

Space chess, or spess, for short. Oils on chessboard. Each piece has a constellation on them - pawns have Crux, rooks have the Big Dipper, Knights have Equuleus, bishops have Cassiopeia, queens have Capricorn, and kings have my personal favourite Orion.

I used a reference picture from this Australian Navy page, combined with a ref of Piett's face, and the hat a friend lent me that I modeled. I used Photoshop's colourising feature to colour my reference which I then used to colour and paint this piece myself.
