Her eyes fell on a dark object tucked into the tallest shelf. It blended into the wood and the books’ leather bindings, which hid it from casual view. From Kylo’s desk, however, she could see its outlines.

It wasn’t a book but an ancient block of wood, curved like a banana in shape. Tiny arched windows were carved into each side. The thing was black, cracked, and misshapen with age.

With a pang of sadness, she realised it was a child’s toy of a ship.

They reached for each other wordlessly, their lips meeting in the middle. Her hands tangled in his hair as his curled around her waist, pulling her closer. Kissing him reminded her of walking in a forest; peaceful yet exciting because she didn’t know where the path would lead.  They colluded less now than they used to, yet she could still feel him smiling against her mouth, edging closer to her, responding to her head tilts with enthusiasm. With care, still kissing tenderly, she laid down, pulling him on top of her. They became a sprawl of limbs, crooked angles, fingers digging into one another as they strove to find a comfortable position. It ended with Rey lying upon the sofa, Kylo kneeling off to the side, his mouth to his torso crushing into her.
