I think what you’re asking about is Marty-Y and Jennifer-X. That’s where things get a little mind-bendy. Marty-A, Jennifer-B and Doc-Z travel from 1985-B to 2015-B. But somewhere in between there the timeline they were in has to branch to accommodate for Marty-Y and Jennifer-X returning to this timeline from some future timeline. But the rules of time travel also say that you can only travel forward in the timeline you are in and will not cause a branch. I can’t satisfactorily explain it. But as things tend to play out in similar ways, we can also posit that there are slight changes. So perhaps Marty-X appeared in Timeline-B before Marty-A but remained, for whatever reason, unseen until after Marty-A had left for the future. Who knows.
