Wilson deals with a cancer diagnosis by deciding to tear himself apart. House deals with his violation of parole in the same way. The situation looms, hostile, impossible. Under threat of annihilation, the careful dance around intimacy they’ve performed together for years falls apart and gives way to what is necessary. Not just seeing, not just saying, but acting and believing it, they find their path to what they need and carve the way out. And then, of course, they take it.
