Everything's Confusing and I'm a Potato

A queer and diversified rewrite that includes us doing our damndest to make everything less creepy and more consensual (also everyone’s a girl)

Not uncomfortable at all, babe!

The best way to be inclusive is to focus on the details of the story and not the reader. There are a million ways to describe emotions, feelings, thoughts, without having to specify them by using "white" codes. I’ll give you an example:

Is reader embarrassed? Inclusive: They can flush with heat. They can start to wring their hands together. They can get antsy. They can bite their lip. They can shift their gaze, or start staring at their feet/hands. They can swallow hard. They can start to sweat. Exclusive: They blush. Their ears/face turns red - or - they go pale. Their knuckles turn white (if gripping something/clenching their fist).

We all experience the same things, we just don’t express or display them the same way, and I think that’s what you have to try and keep in mind.

Another way to be more inclusive is to not “face claim” when making graphics for your fics. Using white models/actresses/kids immediately takes black people and POC out of the fic. We now have an image of reader, which obviously doesn’t represent us.

A third way, don’t make reader a relative of the white protagonist. I’m black. I can’t be Bucky’s sister. I can’t be Tony’s daughter. I realize this is a HUGE trope in the marvel fandom, but it is really insensitive (this is my opinion - i’m not going to speak for every black/brown person in this fandom) to black and POC readers if they are of blood relation to Bucky, Tony, Steve, Natasha, or whoever. I’ve literally never read a daughter!reader/sister!reader because of this. Maybe we can start normalizing adopted!reader or blended families in fanfic to be able to keep the trope and be inclusive.

TL;DR: describe emotions, not physical reactions like blushing; don’t use pictures of white women and kids; don’t make reader Tony’s daughter.

So, yesterday I left work and when I arrived in the other neighborhood to grab the other bus I saw a dog bleeding in the floor. I've seen this baby before, he is stray/"street" and the owner of the ration store feeds him almost daily.

Anyway, I saw some marks on his body and since he isn't neutered my first thought was that he fought because of heat (to mark territory) I crossed the street to buy a ointment and a pedigree's chicken sachet to give him a painkiller.

I went back to the dog and when I opened his mouth to give the half pill I saw his neck was cut with a huge slash. Someone stabbed him. Yes, SOMEONE STABBED HIM. I see monstrosity daily but it never ever fucking ceases to disgust me how cruel some people are. I lost my bus and stood kneeling near him caressing his head while I searched help in my phone. After a few calls trying to find a animal protector that could help, God sent a angel that kneeled by my side and started to search for help too. A friend answered the call and after a while he came with his car so we could take the baby to the vet. There he was anesthetized and the doc sealed his cut, placing him on saline and had to put a medical drain (example) to remove the seroma (natural, related to the body's "defense" reaction, seroma, or the accumulation of fluid under the skin, is a condition that can appear after any surgery, especially those in which skin and adipose tissue are manipulated). He is stable, and the bill is over U$742,54 AND I'm searching for a place where he can rest (he can't go back to the streets).

Under its pictures of him, I know is harsh to see but I hope seeing this cruelty will help you to help him (and please neuter/castrate your animals so the amount of animal cruelty will decrease).

It was the middle of the night, somewhere between the hours of midnight and three am when you were wandering through the stacks of the university library. You weren’t sure about the specifics because you hadn’t bothered looking at the clock when you’d gone in search of Niche.

As a particular tingling sensation swept through you making the hair on the back of your neck stand on end. Perhaps, you realized with a chill, you should have paid more attention to your surroundings.

Thinking you were alone was a mistake. It was the library so of course, he would be here, he worked here after all and it was the first place the two of you had met. Where you argued. Bantered. Teased and talked. One of the few places you would interact with one another outside of the weekly study session.

But here you were, at the back of the dark stuffy shelves in the near dark, pinned against a shelf. Bucky Barnes’s body was strong and imposing, shoulders squared and the technological marvel of a prosthetic arm braced against the shelf at your side. The look in his fathomless blue eyes was accusing and dominant, “I want to know what kind of game you’re playing?”

Summary: You have been looking at the wrong star. Pairings: One-sided Reader x Steve, Bucky x Reader A/N: So much pining. 

It’s past four in the morning when the quinjet sputters to a stop nearly two miles away from the compound hangar. The mission that was supposed to be quick and simple turned out to be an ambush—you and Steve rapelling down into the Atlantic, grabbing a package discreetly, and making haste off the armored frigate before anyone caught wind.  

Instead, they were expecting it.

Cap’s shield spit back what seemed like a million bullets as he pummeled forward. Your torso ate seven deep cuts and even advanced healing couldn’t quite keep up with the gore. Countless punches and kicks landed, and when the energy from your fingertips fizzled out, you reloaded so many times you lost count.  

In the end, an eternity wrapped up in the reality of thirty-five short minutes, you stumbled.  

Steve pulled back, kneeled down, and scooped you up with one arm like a rag doll. Natasha’s calm directives into the commlink did nothing to soothe the panic and humiliation of your first failed mission.
