I really do think a DMC1 remake would be a great idea for a number of reasons. But the one I'm most interested in is how they would handle Nelo Angelo differently. Because like...Vergil is a capital C 'Character' now and playing DMC1 while knowing EVERYTHING that comes after, it almost feels jarring how much of a non-reaction Dante has (imo he reacts more to Trish being a traitor than he does to killing his brainwashed twin) + how little everything related to Nelo Angelo hits. Like I'm affected by it because I'm very emotional and easily moved, but imagine redoing Nelo Angelo's scenes knowing what we know of Vergil now and understanding just how big of a deal it is that he's been being tortured and corrupted in the underworld for a decade. Dante has likely believed Vergil to be dead this whole time and probably blamed himself while also being torn about how twisted Vergil had become in his quest for power, plus now he believes he's truly killed Vergil for forever and he didn't even realize it was Vergil until it's way too late (or maybe in this remake, he does realize and we get even more emotional stuff as a result).
Like, there's so much you can do/improve upon with how Nelo Angelo is handled and I think a remake is the perfect place to do that.
